Painting the Engine Compartment

I am almost ready to put the engine and trans back into the body of my car. I have the engine compartment fully prepped and ready to spray. I have heard several different opinions about using clear coat in the engine bay. Anyone have any opinions to why or why nots.

Definitely clear it if you are going to keep it clean and want a show-car like appearance
