Hi there,
I'm fixing my front end since this guy almost ripped it off while my car was parked! Anyway, while researching my CD, I noticed some shims that go between the bumper support and the chassis. However, when I checked my car, I didn't see any there. This car had been in a wreck before I bought it and the paint was pretty shabby so I assume they didn't put them in. I'm beginning to think they don't really exists since a few wrecked thirdgen I've seen all are missing them. Does anyone have pictures of this part that can help me identify them? Thanks.

They do exist and all mine got thrown out Monday so I can't help with a picture. Both my bar and the used one I had to buy had the shims. My body-guy didn't use them either. They're basically just a piece of flat steel maybe 1/8" thick as tall as the bolt straps are and maybe 1.5" wide.

Most of the automotive stores sell them in their "Help" area on the shelf (where they sell door handles, exhaust studs, bolts, etc). I'd doulble check the areas and make sure the bodyshop didn't crank down on the bolts and bend in the metal tabs....that's one of the reasons for shimming a car. I paid about $20 for about 5 boxes of assorted shims.

I've never seen the bumper shims in the "Help" section-- only smaller body shims. This is what the bumper shims look like:

Excellent!! Thanks for the pics. Yeah, I went to the help section at both Pep Boys and Western Auto (Advance Auto Parts) and didn't see them. I did see starter shims that look similar to what's pictured here but not that long. Thanks again.
