4th gen visors...

Anyone know what it takes to make 'em fit? I heard the Triangle bracket is different, but can be made to work w/o much effort. Any insight?

i just said that i have, had 4 sets i just threw out. you have to modify the reciever or completely build something in the hood. they are no where near close to fitting.

visors, as in sun visors? i've got a set in my car right now actually...but unfortunately they don't work as advertised. The difference between the 4th gen sun-visors, and the third gen sun-visors, is the location where they're mounted. The 4th gen units are mounted in the corner by the A-pillars, and the mounts actually are at an angle, unlike the thirdgen units which are mounted flush into the from windshield. The end result is a sunvisor that will block light fine from the front, however, if you rotate it to the side, the visor will hang all funky doey, all you'd need to do to fix it, is cut the piece out of a 4th gen, and weld it into the corrner A-pillar of your 3rd gen, and that'll put the stupid thing at teh right angle, and make it work like it was in a 4th gen. There's nothing to specail about 4th gen visors, except, they have mirrors....i like my 4th gen rearview much better, the two little lights are kinda pimp, have em wired to turn on when i open the car door.

Thanks for clearing that up 85f-bird. Doesn't seem like I'll be puttin' those stupid things in afterall

As for your 4th Gen rear-view...my stock one has map lights below it, w/ factory wiring to go on w/ the door... Oh well...at least you got it

my ole' 85 didn't have the factory maplights, but i did have the single factory map light in my factory overhead console. but the dual setup is much nicer as far as im concerned.

just found a set here a bit earlier... if you want to try email me and i'll see if i can't send them out to you. assuming you cover shipping you can have them, honestly though i don't think you'll be happy with the results.

oddly enough some of the dodge visors will bolt up as well as newer cavaliers.

Thanks for the offer Jeff. I'll look into the Dodge and Cavalier visors for anything that looks nice.

Which models? I am assuming they will only fit hardtops?

Re: 4th gen visors...

Hi everyone, I am interested in converting to 4th gen visors, and am happy with only blocking sun from the front (thanks for the heads up, 85fbird!) but I'm concerned about how the 3rd gen t-top visors are curved and all the 4th gen visors I see on ebay seem flat like hardtop visors. Is this a concern? Are they going to stick out and poke me in the forehead? lol
