Another weight reduction to add

I bought a used World Products Motown aftermarket SBC block
It already had the LSM CNC block lightening package on it (came from a car used in dirt track racing)
I know it's not a direct comparison, but I weighed a stock block sbc compared to my new Motown block
It saved about 25lbs.

The block looks amazing. Steel is CNC'd out of almost any place you could think of!
Mine still has the side motor mounts, but that area could have been shaved as well

but here's some LS vs 305tbi weights.
2001 LS1: 416 lbs
Fully dressed+wiring harness (no ECU)No smog equipmentNo AC compressor or mount.
1 3/4 stainless long tube headers
1992 305 TBI: 584lbs
Complete with wiring harness(no ECU)
factory exhaust manifolds+Smog crap
With AC ex ex.

About 150lb difference when subtracting the AC compressor weight. Front suspension instantly went to FULL rebound when the 305 TBI was removed. Had to lower my weights jacks to the lowest setting to avoid putting stress on my expensive KONI 8611 race struts.


584lbs 305 TBI 1992

It always drives me nuts when I see SAE bolts with threads inside mounting holes.
I work in aerospace, and threads inside holes is a big no-no.
