Cracked Spoiler from weather
My spoiler on a '89 Formula has a couple of cracks in it. I am about to paint the car, but do you think the spoiler can be repaired with some fiberglass or bondo?

The formy's have that big spongie wing, right?
where are the splits?
any chance of pictures?
has it ever been painted before?
We did one last year for a guy that looked like it was gonna be a mess, the paint was all split, (they weren't painted from the factory, I don't believe.) We stripped all the paint off and got down to the original substrate, turns out, someone had tried to bondo it, and painted it with enamel, A HUGE NO, NO!!!!
(Sorry, had to rant, see my other posts on bondo over urethane,, and the use of flex additive, and you'll see why.)
once we stripped it down and cleaned it up things were fine, we used plastic cleaner and primed with a 2k primer WITH FLEX, and painted, WITH FLEX.
The guy ain't easy on the car, and it's held up perfectly.

Fairly normal for the spoilers to crack out. Mine did on my car right on the driver inside corner.
I believe it's a urethane type material so it does have flex to it.
Basically you can try a cheap fix and paint and hope it holds or cash up for a fiberglass type spoiler.
Here's some quick links to this topic/fixes/how to remove it/and fiberglass replacements

I have an 89 and had the same problem, just got finished fixing it.
I just got some of that Kwick Weld ( 2 small tubes of stuff that when you mix together glues anything) mixed it up and slapped it in this huge split on the top of my spoiler. I took a few c- clamps and wood to hold it together overnight. I took a slightly wet cloth to smooth off the surface b4 it dried so i wouldnt have to sand a whole lot.....Then painted the spot later. You cant really tell its there unless you get close...and atleast I've stopped water from getting in there and making it worse.

I thought i was gonna fix mine, a day before i was gonna fix it, i stopped at a friends house to say hi. he wanted to see my sub box, so i leaned in to pop the hatch, and i heard a crack and a pop, he lifted my hatch by the spoiler, it was all rusted out on the metal inside the spoiler, and it looked like someone tightened it down to tight, so watch out for rust, on the frame work of the spoiler.
