Need opinions please!!!
My car is in desparate need of new carpeting...It's factory gray, but now looks like it's brown...yuck. I was wanting to know if you guys think going with black carpeting all the way back would look good with the gray trim still, of if you'd go back with gray....I'll take any opinions, even bad ones!! ha ha!!

I just bought carpet from http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com It costs about $290 or so for a complete carpet set or $150 for front or rear seperatley. I went with grey carpet for my grey interior. I haven't installed it yet but it looks like it is just as good if not better than my original OEM carpet.
It's pre-molded and mostly cut for you. It's already padded but alot of people add soundproofing/deadening material to it also.
I wondered about the Grey/Black look also. But then I wanted to keep it all grey because black interior is just to hot where I live.

i dont think that a black carpet would look out of place in your interior. one question though... do you have floor mats? would floor mats do the trick? it looks like the nasty stuff could be covered by a set (judging by your pictures).... but besides that, i think that a black carpet wouldnt look bad because of the dashboard and console being dark and stuff. i would think that it wouldnt work with any other color, but a gray interior could pull it off

I'd go with black as well. Black paint is hard to keep clean, but black interior isn't as bad

That doesnt look too bad. I kind of like it. I say go with black carpet and grey floormats. They should match pretty good once you get your seats covered.

I just finished putting carpet in my car, I have a t-top I feel for anyone doing it in a hard top, man the wired angles to get the carpet/insulation in right. Anyway I went with dark grey(factory) It looks alot better, my carpet was almost as brown as yours, its fading, and dirt that makes it look like that. Anyways, pull the carpet out and spray the carpet with cheap spray paint, and brush it up, If you like it in black go for it, if not you are only out of a few dollars, if so you can go out and buy some, or keep the painted, it actually looks prety good. Its better than paying 200 and not likeing it. Check ebay out, 1aauto.com lists it for about 50 less than they do on their site on ebay. You could always go to a dark grey like charcol.
I finished it at 2am yesterday morning, and didn't get up till work and got off after dark, but pic's are to come. I still don't have the plastic in, I am playing with the idea of covering them in leather. I think it turned out well, especially since this if the first car carpet I have done. The carpet is ACC.

Hey, yeah, I'd love to see pics of your install, that would be great! I might just spray a little on my carpet just where it sits (use some resolve on it first of course, just a little spot), because I think if I tried to take it out and clean it, the whole thing would fall apart...it's pretty bad on the passenger side. And a dark charcoal would look good too! I'll have to do some heavy duty thinking on this, but I think in the long run black will win out. I'll check out a1auto's website, thanks for the tip!

I like it =) You may want to look at charcoal if not black to give it a little less contrast. I have a charcoal interior in my bird...its nearly black and I like how it doesn't look dirty, but I know its dirty as hell and I feel you with the pooling antifreeze...damn heater cores.

Black carpet and sail panels, gray plastic. Not seen here, but headliner was also black. Excuse the lack of door panels.

I'm thinking about the same thing. My IROC has the worn out stock gray carpet, but I have graphite 4th gen leather seats in the car, so I'm thinking about going with the darker carpet... but then I'll need to change the carpet on my kick panels and door panels. I think the darker carpet would look great in your car.

I think the 4th gen seats look great in our cars! Kudos to you and everyone else who has them. I'm considering them, since they may be a good option as compared to having my original seats re-upholtered....I'm getting quotes of around 600 bucks...ouch....

LOOK around, I know a place here in GA that quoted me 350 for the seats and door panels, but I ended up going with 4th gen leather seats, but I will be getting him to redo the driver seat sometime in the winter, he gave me a quote of 150 a seat in leather like, but I may go back and ask for a quote in real leather.

Do what you want to, but my personla preference is for the original look.
The high contrast might be pretty cool depending on the rest of your car. Do you have a two tone paint scheme or anything?

I personally think that black carpet would look great, even with the gray seats. My 67 Riv has Black Carpet and white seats, and it looks great, matter of fact the contrast is really nice because the white seats pull your eyes away from the carpet...
