He's getting a 4th gen.

I believe I will be taking the same route.

I have an 87 Camaro with the LG4 thats been rebuilt, but the car badly needs paint and some engine work(grandfather never took care of it). My cousin will give me $2000 for it(his offer), so i think im gonna take the $2000 and put it in the bank and save up for the next year and a half.

I wanna get a 4th gen for a couple of reasons.

1. They are steadily becoming cheaper. There are 94-95 Z28s in Auto Trader around here going for under 7k with only 80-100k miles.

2. Can't go wrong with 275-285hp in the LT1.

3. It's available with the 6 speed and 3.23 gears.

4. It has the CD player and good speakers.

It would cost me more to get my ThirdGen up to these standards. Im just becoming more of a 4th Gen guy. Don't know why.

Don't get me wrong, i love 3rd gens. I plan on owning an IROC after i get this, but i just feel like a 93-95 Z28 is better spent money.

I *really* don't like the pre 98 4th gens. Either for the firebird or the camaro. They just don't look as refined. They are deffinitely not as timeless as a thirdgen either.

4th gens are cool, I've owned a 96 Camaro and a 96 Trans Am, both manuals. I am partial to the 3rd gens cuz they look so much better to me. I do however love the 4th gen interior as well as the 98+ Trans Am nose and 97 and earlier Ram Air hood. these are all going to be in and on my 86 Trans Am within the next 2 years.
Here is a pic of them, can't really see the whole camaro.
(oh, I bought the Black 96 T/A for $6400, then sold it my brother for $5500 plus his 96Camaro, then I sold the 96 Camaro and bought parts for my 86 Trans Am)

If so, then howcome the L98s won't run stock mid-13s?

You could never get a 6 speed...or 5 speed for that matter, with a 350.

I think the L98s came with 245hp stock? LT1s come with 285hp stock. Oh, and most good condition IROCs are the same price as most low mileage, great condition Z28s from 93-94 around here.

the majority (like 99%) of LT1s run low 14s stock. my car stock ran a 14.2. my friend payed 9 grand for his trans am, 6 speed, LT1 car.. i payed 3400 for my automatic L98.

not to sound liek a riceboy but give me that 5600 bucks in mods and ill whip his *** and look better doing it.

this is just my opinion of course so dont get your panties in a ruffle. if you would like to buy a fourthgen than thats all you but im just telling you that i personally wouldnt go fourthgen unless i could get an LS1 and guarantee myself mid 13s stock.

Yeah, i would have to agree with bigmike. The LT1's are overrated. Stay where your at and spend the money on modds or go all out and get a LS1.
