Re: May 2022 COTM "Foreign Affairs" **Voting Thread**

Well its a great honor representing the third gens here in my country. Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean and even though American cars are quite popular, I think there are perhaps 15-20 Thirdgens (Camaro and Firebird). The majority of American cars here are 1960s Mustangs.

I bought my GTA back in 2016 from a guy who had just brought it to Malta. Even though it wasn't in a very bad condition surely it was at 2/10 on my scale so I decided to completely disassemble and go through ever nut and bolt. Body needed some rust repairs in the lower rear quarters and driver's side floor. Engine and cylinder heads were repaired / filled as there was cylinder bridging between 6 & 8. I removed all the emission stuff and detailed the engine.

Being an island and in a different continent, I am sure you can appreciate the expenses I had to endure when it comes to taxes and shipping. I can easily say that half of the cost of the car was on shipping and taxes and I am being conservative. Nothing could be sourced locally so everything came from the US.

You can see a short video of the restoration process here:

This is the photo which I like most of my TransAm

And some engine bay pics:

Needless to say, being a Pontiac patriot, 2-years ago I also purchased a 1968 Pontiac GTO directly myself from Indiana. It is in quite a good condition but being a numbers matching car, I will soon do the same treatment on it and restore it to its closest original state.

Honored to be nominated for car of the month!

Being a fan of Knight Rider as a kid I had always dreamed of one day owning a 3rd gen Trans Am.
That day came in 2013 when I finally found one that was priced very low for one here in Australia, my only criteria was that it be black and if it had been converted to rhd it had to be a good job, luckily it was and is a mirror conversion, how ever it isn't without some annoyances, sitting on the cat hump while driving really sucks lol but that will get cut out one day.
It was in a very rough state mechanically, had a bunch of interior and exterior parts missing and I knew it was going to cause me a lot of trouble in the years to come but I bought it anyway!
So basically over the last 9 years I've almost got it back to a tidy factory like state, I had big plans for engine and transmission upgrades 9 years ago but I've come to just appreciate it as an old car and run it how it came, just with a few tweaks here and there. I've replaced sensors, gaskets, hoses, wires, plugs etc.... most recently had a new timing chain and gears put in and next up I'll be installing some bosch 3 injectors from Southbay and a retuned chip from Tuned Performance which will also delete the cold start injector and kick my fans on at 200 instead of 225 so looking forward to seeing how all that pans out.
Being a fan of Kitt I had to have the turbo hood and my wrap around spoiler was wrecked so when a clapped out old near death 84 popped up for sale I jumped on it and found all my donor parts and more. The turbo hood buldge was so iconically TransAm for me, something that just stuck with me from my childhood memories of owning hotwheels and matchbox Trans Ams that mine just had to have it!
Currently living a whole state away from the car at the moment after moving and having to leave it with a trusted smash repairer to get some frame damage fixed and looking forward to a nice long 12hr drive to bring it to our new home!
Just have to add that this forum has been an invaluable resource for me (and us all) since buying the car and I'm certain I wouldn't have it anywhere near the condition it's in without the help of the people here. 😎👍

Re: May 2022 COTM "Foreign Affairs" **Voting Thread**

Hallo and thank‘s for the nomination! I was very surprised because I'm new to the forum.
My car is a Camaro Cabrio Z28 from 1987. It is one of the few that came with the LT04 engine.
I like the color combination in gold / black. Inside it has brown leather and light upholstery. I found him at a German dealer. The photos also come from this, as the car is currently still being converted for Germany. The odometer currently shows 6000 miles and I hope to be able to enjoy the summer.

And here are some Pics:
