SPRING is coming! Let's see some of these Third gens after hibernation.
After arguably the worst winter I've ever seen its good to see sunshine and 75 degrees temps down south! Logged 80-100mi on the fresh 350 this weekend. It was nice

Re: SPRING is coming! Let's see some of these Third gens after hibernation.
Two weeks worth of freezing rain, snow, and ice storms causing widespread power failures here in the rust belt gave way yesterday to torrential rainfall. There's been almost 3" so far, with another 2-3" forecast for overnight tonight, bringing with it the risk of flooding in low-lying areas; the hits just keep on coming.
Looks like my Camaro will remain garaged for at least the next several days.

Car looks great dmccain! How's that 350 treating you?
I'm jealous of the nice weather. It's warming here. 32 today, 13 tonight. But all 50s early next week. Temp bounces around a lot here this time year.

Mine aren't out of hibernation just yet. I'm probably gonna give it a few more weeks. But I did check on the 89 RS couple weeks ago. After -25° temperatures, I wanted to make sure the battery was still charged at not frozen. The ol girl fired right up! That car is stored 30 miles away, so I don't get over there very often.

The extra power is great. Probably better than I thought it would be. Still a nagging header leak you can only hear inside the car when the windows are up under pretty good acceleration but I will get it fixed. Anxious to see how you like those 059s and cam swap.

Ain't time yet. We got this thing up here called "salt" that needs to wash off the road for the next month.

Yikes! is it spring again? I still have my interior in pieces. A guy mozzle go ahead and finish on that real quick if ebay would stop sending me broken parts! Can't wait to get my 92 Firebird on the road again. She hasn't driven more than 10 miles in the last 5 years. Everybody's builds are amazing. Love the cars. Keep em' on the road guys and gals.

Here in south central Wisconsin winter was full-on in February. Snowmobiling was the best it's been in years. Last week things started to thaw out but we still have a foot or more of snow on the ground. We are also supposed to hit 50 degrees next week as well, but winter can make a surprise return for a few days even in April, thus my '88 Trans Am will stay in hibernation (off-site) until May 1st. I always look forward to that day and when I pull out of the storage garage each spring and hit the road it feels like it did the first time I pulled out of the dealers lot with much joy and anticipation.

I've got probably another month before I dare try to start driving the IROC. Too much road salt and we still aren't having much good weather here.
That being said, I pretty much lost the last 6 weeks of my life in a Covid/Pneumonia/Pulmonary Embolism induced fog - made winter seem like it went by fast!
The downside is I didn't get any of the winter car projects I had planned done either...

Sorry to hear about you bout with Covid I hope you are over it. Im lucky I guess, tested positive in Dec. and was only a bit weak and coughing a day or two and my wife and boys had mild symptoms also. I did lose a 71 yr old Uncle that was seemingly perfect healthwise though. I put my car in the shop first of November swapping engines, fixing heater core, and eventually a bit of bodywork trying to straighten some panels a bit better. Still have a new posi to put in as mine has just about had it. Just now finishing up and eager to get it out and enjoy it. No salty roads down here.
Your car looks great by the way!

Re: SPRING is coming! Let's see some of these Third gens after hibernation.
hibernation !!!?! I kinda get it, but I also kind of think that wayyy too many classic car owners are wayyyy too protective and uneasy about driving their car during the winter (or sometimes even driving it at all...). Always the array of excuses. Too cold, too much salt on the road, too much pollen out, gasoline is too expensive, its too hot out and my air conditioning doesn't keep me "comfortable" . Who needs to be comfortable anyways! Get out there and drive the thing. I have had mine out several times per month this past winter. I always do, even last year as soon as the engine swap was done, I had that thing out cruising the neighborhood, salty roads an all.
I like going to car shows BUT it never fails, there is always someone proudly exclaiming how "low mileage" they put on the car. I feel bad for these unfortunate people. I put 3,000 miles on the car at minimum, every year, without fail. And then when people find out that I race this thing on the dragstrip and autocross and I don't own a trailer, they almost fall to pieces and get weak in their knees. I guess some people just enjoy "having a car as an item".. but damn, I enjoy driving my car. yes, I obviously drive it LESS in the winter, but I still get out there and drive it for pleasure. So what, a little salt gets on the underside and wheels wells, I get out some soap and wash the car and then do a quick wipe down of the underside if I can.... not a big deal at all.
oh well.
this was a few days after that HUGE snowstorm in early Febuary 2021:
quick test of the new 3.91 gears that same day:
mostly tire spin, a minor amount of traction
a few years ago with the old engine, old trans, and old rear end:

I backed mine out of the garage to run a little as it got above freezing and sunny one day last week. That's about as far as it went. I had to plow snow again the next morning. The roads around here are littered with salt and cinders. I'm looking forward for the snow to be gone.

My 059s will be sitting for quite a while now. All of my automotive ventures are pushed back 6-12 months due to the fire.

Thank you sir! This Trans Am has been my dream car for years and I’m so fortunate to have it. Took a very long time to find a nice one! I couldn’t wait any longer to take the cover off when the temps reached 55 out! Might take it for a little spin this weekend as the weather is still great! Have a great weekend!

Sons 2019 challenger scat pack and my 92 Z28.
Over 600 cars at Georgetown, TX airport.
Mine was the only 3red gen.
Got tons of compliments.
Best part an engineer who worked on these thirdgens really liked it. He just retired from GM.
I threw him the keys and told him to start it up.
It made his day.
He pointed certain things on these late model 3ed gens I never knew.
I gave him my contact info so we can talk 3rd gens.

Made my first show of the year. 100+ mi round trip car running great. Show had over 300 cars. 2 Thirdgens. Car got lots of complements but the older crowd running the show never even stopped to look at it during judging. They were all over the 34 Coupes and 55 Chevys. Oh well.. I like it.

Our time will come. The old guys won’t be around a lot longer and then interest in their old classics will die off with them. Can’t wait for the day when cruise nights & shows play newer music too. I’m so sick of hearing the same old songs at EVERY event. Someone needs to tell these DJs that they made music after the 50s!

Nice to see cars getting out in some areas...
we hit 62 today and in the sun it felt like 75...
Still some bits of snow from a heavy, wet 18” we got about a month ago... That snow was just so deep and heavy I knew it would stick around... Then we had some freezing rain storms so they salted the hell out of the roads...
I pulled out the cars and checked for critters in the engine compartments and found nothing... No new leaks, batteries all good and running great... I was so tempted to hit the roads but you could see the patches of salt. We really haven’t gotten rain in a while.

Just put the battery in and woke it up today. First start is definitely rough, and the PCM has to relearn things. Settles down quick enough. I forget how aggressive that cam chop is and how loud it is lol.

And she's home! I had the antenna off while in storage so the cover would fit, so I had no tunes for the 30 mile ride home.....until I looked in the center console and found an Aerosmith GET A GRIP cassette tape so I had some great jams for the ride!
