Re: Most Desirable Colors?
For Trans Am,1982 specifically,I love the black and gold two tone color combo,I also like the medium Maui blue metallic used on the Trans ams and Camaros. I also had an all white 88 Trans Am with t-tops that looked stunning.
My Camaro is Maui Blue.

Everything other than teal. Sorry....i just hate it. I've had somewhere close to 40 third gens, and never a teal one. I will never own a teal one, either.
I love black and gold IROC'S, and bright red GTA'S.

It really is subjective to personal taste, I love a nicely cleaned and waxed 'Bird or Camaro in any color.
But.... I do like to come across a gunmetal grey for either car (was it that grey that came on Camaros too?), and purple haze on a Z28. Both rarely seen colors out there on these cars.

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
I like the dark metallic colors and black.
Obviously I love the Flame Red or Dark Red metallic. I like Blue Metallic and Black too. If the body panels are straight and the paint is nice, darker colors will look deeper and have more shine. They do also show more flaws, scratches, dings, etc...
Bright Red seems to walk the line between the lighter colors and the darker colors. You can get a wet looking shine with it but it still appears lighter.
Yellow and White can look super bright and clean and hide flaws. You can’t really get that deep wet look though.
The metallic gray seems to hide flaws decently but as a metallic color it doesn’t pop as much to
me as Dark Red and Blue...
Silver was a rare one and looked great with red decals...
Medium Orange Metallic was a cool color, but I’ve never seen it in person... pretty rare.
Its really up to your preference.
one of my favorite GM colors of all time is:
1995-1996 Corvette Admiral Blue 28U WA128A

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
What was the “teal” color called by GM that a couple members here have stated they dislike? I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a Camaro in “teal”? Are you meaning a turquoise 1950’s type color?

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
I really like Firebirds in white. Camaros too, but with those I like the red or yellow accents stripes down low.
Black is great. Hard to keep clean, but I think black works with any car.
The darker reds, like flame red.
The green Firebirds from 1991-92.
Maui blue, but only on Formulas.
If I get my flame red GTA repainted, I'm going to go with a green like the one offered for a couple of years on Corvettes (lime rock green).

Maui blue formulas with tinted out windows and t tops are the best looking third gens imo...

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
Much as I hate the sea of gray, silver, black, and white that the parking lots have become, I agree that this is a great color on a Trans Am.
I think different colors work for different cars. Gray, silver, black, and white all have their places and I owned three white and two black cars. But I'm so tired of seeing 90% of vehicles being one of these colors.

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
Early on, I took pics of my cars starting in 1986 and I wish I had kept this up. I don't think I have any of that Formula, though I have some of my other white Formula bought new in 1990.
In 2009, I told the Maui blue Formula to a member here, Punzak90. He kept it for a while, sold it, then later bought another one just like it. He was doing a lot of work on the car and posted here about it, but I'm not sure if he's still around. Last I heard, he was thinking of selling and going 2nd gen.

I do like the dark metallic green on some cars as well as that metallic teal blue on the 91-92 RS/Z28...
Maui Blue on a formula is very nice too... It can have a deep wet look with metallic flake but also hides flaws decently... Very nice color...
The C7 Corvette Daytona Sunrise metallic orange is pretty awesome too. I’ve seen IROCs painted a similar color and looked great...

That sunrise orange metallic may be my favorite car color. Or similar. I had a 2014 Cherokee in "mango tango pearlcoat" which was just a great color. I'd redo my GTA in that, but it wouldn't work with the tan interior.

To me, the one to have is dark metallic teal. Growing up, it's the color that everyone seemed to want (i'm 40) and know people who color changed their thirdgens to be teal.
I also love the 85-87 irocs in yellow, 88 only orange, maui blue on a formula, and the 85-only blue on an iroc. I also like all of these colors on the hardtop cars because it just shows more color and natural lines of the car. Just my opinion

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
If that’s the teal color Camaro I actually like it! That seemed to be a pretty popular color back then. For some reason when teal was mentioned I was thinking it was more of a 50’s-60’s turquoise color that would have looked out of place on these cars.
i saw a red Camaro with red interior once and thought that was really cool. I’ve only seen a handful of third gens without grey or tan interiors.

These are desireable now... They bring decent money at auctions for pretty average cars just for the color...

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
Wow,I’ve never seen a corvette in that color. I like it though and think that would look good on a third gen, depending on the model. Did they ever offer the Firebirds or Trans am’s in a sold gold/copper color like the 70’s cars? I always wondered how that would look. Back then the interiors were color keyed to the exterior of the car. Blue would have blue interior, the gold Firebird would have tan interior, etc. they even had two tone black dash/seatbelts/carpet with white seats, headliner and interior trim pieces.
perosnally I never cared for the look of the corvettes those years. I think the trans ams are much better looking cars, despite performance

Really? I'll have to think about that. I really liked that mango color. I bought the Trailhawk trim of my Cherokee specifically get that color, although I liked some of the other appearance stuff on the Trailhawk. A Limited model would have made more sense for me.
Getting into two-tones, I really like Trans Ams in blue or red over silver.

BLUE!!! Nothing beats the GM factory bright metallic blue. It just fits on the 3rd gen camaro. It’s amazing that red and black were so popular. I like them both but again BL💙E rules!!!

That was a good looking color, and available on 1990-1991 Corvettes. Rare back then, and it's still a love or leave color, but many find it of interest now. Retro cool.
NOT available on the F-Body though.

This thread reminds me of the Sioux Falls SD Flea Market's jingle... There used to be a few examples on Youtube but all I can find right now is a snippet at the beginning of a video.
Poop Brown and Aqua Sea Foam Green Corvettes, **** Yellow, Barbie's Maui Blue, we're absolutely getting into "One man's trash is another man's treasure" territory. Some people like the odd and unusual, some see the value in colors so ugly they were 'rare'. There's no definitive answer to the OPs question, because while one color might attract one person, it might repel a dozen others. Ultimately people are going to go for what they like, which is why the menu board at your favorite drive-thru has more than one option.

Re: Most Desirable Colors?
I traveled two states away to buy my Maui Blue Formula 350. I wanted to find a Maui car when I bought my black one back in the day, now I finally have one.
