Well my 1990 formula has a new trick up its sleeve, I suspect that it's the only 1990 formula 5 speed with 20k miles on the clock and a functional cold air induction hood scoop using all original Trans am bits from an 80s trans am:
Here's the thread on how I converted the fake air scoop into a real functional one:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ml#post6354676
I'm absolutely loving this car and every little thing I do to it has resulted in real noticeable results!
It has been a battle fixing all the little missteps that previous owners have done, but although far from complete (to what I want), She sounds great, drives well and has gotten plenty of compliments from people in traffic and parking lots, she's a blast to drive on warm summer evenings:
And cool Autumn afternoons:
Regardless of outcome I'm incredibly happy to be a part of this forum, the knowledge base here is invaluable and looking at other cars has given me great ideas on how to proceed with my own.
- Stay Awesome

When I want to see how meticulously a car is build, I always look at the underbody. Only there you can see if someone "meant it" and not just did it for the show.
Outside is for everybody, clean and beautiful underbody is just for the aware!
Awesome job!

Thanks again for the nomination!
My firebird has been my childhood dream.
Bought it for next to nothing.
Got through one major restoration with stock LO3. Sandblasted the whole thing, did a cage and full underbody strengthening.
3 color changes over the years.
And now finally made it go as good as it looks to me - swapped for an LQ4, put a cam in and lots of other goodies.
Has been with me for over 10 years.
More photos over here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...d-project.html

Thanks for the nomination. No resurrections here. Just your typical story. Owned a 3rd gen in High school and loved it. I found this one on a used car lot in 2015. I've put about 3000 miles on it since then. It's got 90,000 miles on it now. I bought it because It had some cool options like rear window louvers and the stripe delete package (someone added them at some point in it's life). It was also a 5.7 T top car. It was well taken care of by the previous owners. It was actually owned by another member here at some point (Iroc-EZ). Any way. Love the forum. Great source of info.

Touch choices again this month. What a great set of cars!
Love the Formula tail in white. I had one like that in 1990. The mix of colors with the white paint, red and amber taillights, and the spoiler just looks so good.

Re: March 2020 COTM **Voting Thread**
Thanks again for the nomination...here we go again. Good Luck to all!!
My wife has been wanting a GTA 5.7 of her own. She has several of mine that she can drive, but wanted this one to be hers.
We found it in a pretty rough shape; a 1988 5.7 GTA, Black Cloth Interior, 95k miles, Arizona car, and NO RUST! We looked it over and she said to me we ought to get it and...In HER words...."Put a couple of grand in it and drive it!" Boy that snowballed.
The car never left the place that we bought it from. My paint and body eventually caved and said he would take on the task of disassembling it and doing it up right.
We bought the new Fiberglass Aero Wing from Hawks and it was worked over prepping for paint. All in all, it formed and fit really well
While I was collecting, buying, and finding all the pieces, Bill worked the car over....and over....and over. I helped when and where I could, mostly assembling the car once painted. Weatherstripping kit, new door glass for both doors including motors were installed.
It was then hauled to our home for another couple of months for completion.
The interior was removed and sent to my upholster for a complete make over.
I installed the new 17" GTA Crosslace Rims from Hawks along with Firestone Indy 500 275/40/17 Tires
Sound deadening was installed throughout the interior except the roof.
New carpet, headliner, visors, door panels, console lid, and other switches and things the needed replaced due to wear.
Alpine 148BT CD Reciever, Amps,10"Subs, and speakers for tunes!
Engine detail and minor repairs were made.
UMI suspension, shocks/struts and Wonder Bar installed.
Washer Tank and Radiator Overflow Tanks are new from Classic Industries.
New Valve Stem Seals, Fuel pump, and Water pump were installed along with the full tune up items just last month.
And way to many other things to mention!!!
Clips and Fasteners, com LOVE me and I replaced all of them.
A very special Thank You goes out to Firebirddude42, AKA Brett, for supplying me with everything I ever asked for. I actully help fund his wedding last year!!!! You ever need parts, Brett is your go to guy.
With out further ado...Meet Reba!

All seem like good choices this month IMO, but I feel like the red IROC and the white Formula need to show a little more. Maybe a peak under the hood and on the inside...

That is an amazing recovery Max. There are some really talented people on this site. The Camaro that won last month looked like a pile of scrap metal before they restored it.
