July 2019 COTM **Winner**

Congratulations, dagwood! Your G92 IROC is our TGO July 2019 COTM Winner! I think I said my piece on this car in the **Voting Thread** so if it's alright, I'm gonna just copy and paste some of that:

On the one hand, dagwood's car is, to my thinking, at least in stock form, the ultimate 3rd Gen Camaro: The very slick, very cool G92 Package in the form of an IROC-Z, which I prefer over the '91-'92 Z28 styling. While the Firebirds have a couple of supreme models like the ultra-rare Carroll Formulas, the Formula Firehawks, and the GTA SE, more commonly known as TTA, as far as I know, for Camaro, the G92 is as good as it gets as far as a special performance trim. As we all know, I have a strong tendency and bias towards 3rd Gens that are at least somewhat extensively modified for speed and performance. However, in this case there is a strong argument to be made in favor of keeping this car as stock as possible that even I would probably have to adhere to. This is a one-year only package [for an IROC] (I think) that is the best performance package available in any 3rd Gen Camaro (I think), so to modify this very rare car would render it just another modified IROC.

I will add that there is something stealthy and sinister about these G92s with their stripped down performance in a plain white wrapper.

My car is a 43k mile, 1990 IROC-Z. It is one of only 295 G92, 5 speed cars built for 1990. It was built in December of 1989. It is also a DX3 stripe delete car. I am the second owner, having bought it from it's 80 year old original owners! The car is EXTREMELY clean! The bottom side of the car is about as clean as the top side.

Here's a list of the goodie options....

230HP 305 TPI
G92
5 speed
N10 dual cat exhaust
3.42 gears
4 wheel disc brakes
DX3 stripe delete
Gray leather interior
Sitting on 4 new General G-max 245/50/16 tires

It is an unmolested, survivor. The car is all original other than tires and battery (of course), and it has had a set of bigger injectors installed along with an Accel distributor. It is all original paint other than the hood. (It was repainted due to a front bra yellowing the paint on the front) It has never been damaged in any way. It runs and drives absolutely awesome. So it is 1 of only 295 G92 5 speeds built for 1990, but I dont know if the numbers can be broke down any farther being a stripe delete car, etc. The car was purchased new in Houston, TX where it spent its life until the previous owners moved to South Dakota in 2013. I actually found the car for sale right here on thirdgen.org in the "5 Speed third gens for sale" thread in the History/Originality section. Thanks to ray jr for posting the link to this car!

Congratulations to cdoyle too on an fantastic car and a super tight race - even a super-tight final vote. I will be competing against you in November.

Also, thanks to both of you as you both had outstanding presentations. And personally, I think it makes the contest more fun when the nominees are really competing - adding more pictures and more details and story here and there, really trying to make their case. It was a good contest this month. I hope to see more like this.

Congratulations dagwood on the win and thanks to Linson for the always well thought out and insightful words on the cars. I believe I nominated cdoyle in the past as well and have definitely voted for his impressive work on turning a base Camaro with little hope into a bada$$ car that is a culmination of the best of third gens mixed with impressive improvements. That was one of the first cars that caught my eye when I joined this site.

What a desirable car dagwood! The 5-speed G92 with the stripe delete with low miles and from the original owners! That is truly the kind of story people in this hobby dream of.. And facilitated by Ray Jr on this board by starting a great thread and getting the info out on great cars!

Was a nice close race this month with three top notch cars!

Thanks fellas, and thank you very much to everyone that voted for me! Thank you to 88IROCvertZ for the nomination, and thank you to Linson for the tie breaking vote!

cdoyle.....your car is great! I cant imagine the blood, sweat, and tears that you have put into that car to make such an outstanding makeover. I respect anyone that has a passion like that for their car!!! I researched your car when it was in the nomination thread, and I gave you the "second" to get it in the voting with me because it truly deserves to be in the spotlight! You have an awesome car, and had an absolutely killer presentation. Hats off to you for all of your hard work and dedication to build such a neat car.

I sure wish that BOTTLEDZ28 would have participated. That looks like a pretty killer Z in that one picture, and I would have loved to have seen more of it.

Linson, thanks for putting this together every month!! I love voting every month and checking out all the cool machines in our very own "on line car show". I always look forward to it!

And FWIW, the 5 speed G92 IROC's with the 230hp engine were available in 1989 and 1990 only.
