I love this pic...

I actually used to work with the owner of that truck. (Small world) That pic was taken at the Red Robin on Rt 3 in Clifton, NJ. Never knew that pic was out there.

The 'vette deserved that.
Had he been at the back of a lot that wasn't packed, then it's fine, but on a lot that is obviously fairly full and in a spot close to the building, you're asking for it.
I double park at the back of the lot if the lot isn't super busy... Basically it's saying respect my car while I'm not impacting anyone's life... The only problem with this, is people now adays feel like being some type of "activist" and will go out of their way to damage a vehicle to prove a point and then post a picture on the 'web.
It's sort of like the hot day and leaving your dog in the car... People are really fast to jump on this and on a day where it's not that warm will break into someone's car to "save" a dog that was sleeping because they thought it was dying and wanted to be a hero... If it was a legit hot day and the animal was obviously in distress then by all means help it.

Actually worked great for my new GA that I bought, because it went off when it detected battery drain caused by the dome light coming on. That car's dome would come on with just the flip of the handle, so the alarm would go off if anyone "checked the doors". Another thing I liked about it was the siren had a P*****S LOUD shrill that would make anyone JUMP and purchasers were warned to "protect against hearing damage". I still have it, not in use. I'm thinking of using it to quick-beep these idiots who make left turns in front of me at intersections LONG after their left turn light turns red and mine switched to green.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

Really burns my *** too how people just have no regard!! Haha I sound like Rodney Dangerfield....but I hear why you're griping, I always have people putting their drinks on my car, on the t roofs, the headlight pockets is the worst! And leaning on the car is a regular thing. Non stop putting the run on someone. I gave a girl a ride home from the bar one night...she was in the car and I had to run back in to get a buddy. When I returned I could smell something weird and asked her about it, she said she didn't know what I was talking about. The next day I found that she had taken a lighter and burnt the headliner to **** in the back of the car. Some people have no respect. Since then I confronted her and she denied it fully but I know she did it. Grrrr Also seeing third gen owners use their headlight pockets for tool bench irritates the hell out of me.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

One of my ex bf's used to smoke, and would flick lit cigarettes across the hood of the car for no reason, except to put them out.

Though, he was nice enough not to smoke while riding inside, or sit on the front bumper cover...

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

I also park in no mans land and that usually works. If there's no decent parking I don't go. Lost a girl friend over that..
I actually received a ticket for 10 mph over the speed limit by CHP headed in the opposite direction just a week or two after $$$ paint.
Anyway he walks up to the window and says nice car. Nice paint. Then he says "Ill do you this one favor". I thought he was going to let me slide but he says "I wont set my clip board on the car.... Ticket was on Christmas Day with my Mother in the car. Go figure.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

Is it just me or dtes this happen more frequently after yourcar is freshly painted. Never had this problem before and not a week after I came to the car one day and noticed a nice long scratch in the rear decklid like someone used it to set stuff on and then drugit off. And then, I was a t a dealership last week and I notice across the lot I see a ***** of a salesman using my car as a desk to write on some paperwork with. People are just a$$holes

I would have taken a picture of said salesman, ask for the manager, then ask for a nice discount on whatever I was getting at the dealership.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

This is a pretty old post but I'm going to bump it because it's a good place for people to rant out their frustrations haha. I work at a dealership and TWICE with both my GTA and my Mustang I've caught people opening the doors and sitting in inside and letting their kids muck with them. My reactions both times just about cost me my job, but seriously both cars have license plates on the front and rear, aren't parked with the "for sale" cars, and have my belongings sitting inside. I've also told off countless people for leaning on my car during car shows. The worst part is they'll be talking to someone about the car beside mine, and they'll just use mine as a bench. I know it's bad to wish bad things upon people but man is it ever tough to stay collected sometimes

I get antsy when people just stand close to my car, whether it's my 31-year old Trans Am or my 2019 ATS coupe. If they sat on it, I'd probably have a stroke.

Yep, I had to politely ask an older gentleman at a show recently to not sit against my car. I hated to but asked nicely and he was nice about it and went on. Had it been a millennial I may have been a bit more aggressive Lol.

It's just so rude. I never lean on someone's car.

When I drive with someone to play golf, sometimes they've put their foot up on my back bumper as they tie their shoe. When I tell them "please" not to do that, even though they'll stop, they act as though you're crazy. I bought a new car early in January and when I play golf now, I'll miss the Jeep that I traded because it had a bumper that could stand that. I'll have to watch for someone putting a shoe on the painted bumper of my new car.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

How about when someone leans on your spoiler though?? A mechanic leaned on mine and sent a crack right across it, I was super happy. My girlfriend was getting in my car last year too and accidentally kicked the cupholder, which made it drop and shatter as the closing door crushed it. Thrilled once again

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

I drive my lil dingy 2000 Frontier most of the time so I don't have to worry about people at Wal Mart parking lot and such. My full size truck goes on longer trips, out with the wife or to Church. My bird goes to shows and maybe late evening drives once in a while.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

More than once with different cars, I've had issues where I've had some minor maintenance work done, and the mechanic doing it was wearing a belt. The metal belt buckle left small scratches in the paint where he was leaning over the car.

I rarely park my TA anywhere. I take it out for rides a couple of times a week and usually don't even stop anywhere, maybe grab a burger at a drive-thru. I just drive it because I like to drive. About the only time it's out of my sight is sometimes I'll take it out early in the morning for breakfast and I will park it at a local diner.

I bought my first Formula new in '90, and as it was my only car I drove it everywhere. Sometimes I'd park as far away from anyone as possible, but a lot of times I looked for a really nice car and I'd park next to it, sometimes kind of close. I'm sure the owner of that car wasn't thrilled to see it, but I didn't think they'd hit my car and I knew I wouldn't hit theirs. With my second Formula bought when it was 13 years old in 2003, I was careful with it, but as it was an older car that I knew I wouldn't have forever, I wasn't overly cautious. I kept it until it was 20 years old and I really didn't worry about parking it too much, though I was still careful about where I parked. (I just found out recently that the guy I sold that car to is a member here as well, punzak.) With my current '88 Trans Am, I can't see ever selling it so I'm very careful with it.

Re: Does it drive you nuts when people sit on your car?

I used to have to get street parking for jobs and there was a bar on one side of the street where people would just come out, smoke butts and lean on the cars.. A guy I knew had a huge dent from a fight where a guy got his head smashed into his rear quarter..

I would get there 45 min early and wait for spots on the other side of the street where pedestrians didn’t really “hang out”

My Tahoe has never gotten a ding or scratch since I bought it because I identify where people hang out and never park in those areas..

I actually had a co-worker after coming out and saying “nice truck” right when I bought it and put a metal coffee cup on the hood.. I politely asked, “Hey man, I just detailed my truck so can you please not put anything on the paint? I’m trying to keep it nice..” He looked at me like I just kicked his dog in the face. (I did have to polish out a ring his cup made..so annoying)

It’s weird to me how people love getting new cars but have no idea that with a little effort, they can actually keep them that way..

I have no problems jumping on people to not "lean" on the car. Whenever my son and I are at a gathering, I usually need to remind him to be aware and resist wanting to touch stuff. Some of the car stuff is so gorgeous.
