June 2015 COTM **WINNER**
Congrats to this month's TGO Car of the Month winner: IROCNParts.
His '91 Players Camaro is something very unique and special. I had never seen anything quite like it in the COTM contests.
My 1991 Camaro R7U Canadian Players Challenge 1LE is 1 of 97 produced as a 1991 model year camaro. It was an early production 1991 so it was raced in 1990, 1991 and 1992.
I originally became fascinated with the r7u cars when I was 14 years old and had a paper route. A 1991 #13 Andy Mahood Kokanee Beer car was 4 doors away from my parents house. I begged my dad to buy it for me. It was in race form, cage, fire supressions, right off the track. But being a responsible dad he sad no. Probably a good thing but about 8 years later I found this beauty for sale in Edmonton Alberta and worked a deal on it! I Drove out with a friend of mine and a trailer and brought it back!
Usually a middle of the pack car it was raced by a guy named Cameron Hope who was a lawyer in Stoney Plains Alberta. He now works for the New York Rangers of the NHL.
The Players Challenge series was hosted by GM, Players Cigarettes (Canadian Company) and several other sponsors. All the Camaro/firebirds in the series were "bone stock" 1LE fully optioned cars. The engines were sealed on specific bolts to ensure the engines were not modified, which would showcase a "best driver wins" type of series.
I've had this car for 10 years now. It has about 39000 miles on it. Has the original roll cage. And race seat still in the car.
I also have a 1992 R7U, it is the #1 car which was raced by Rob Fellows and has just over 6000miles on it.
Here is a link to more pictures of the car.

Nice win IROCNParts! Was a heck of a shootout amongst 5 other awesome 3rd Gen F-bodies. I'd hope to see some of them nominated for a future competition. Alof of work/time/$$$ goes into these things whether you're a collector maintaining, or a builder upgrading. Cheers!

Thanks a lot guys! I've never entered it into shows or really anything since owning it so this is really neat! It was nice to see all the votes it got and hopefully it brings up some more interest in the r7u Canadian Players cars! The yellow #1 is my 1992 version (1 of 30) but its not quite 100% complete currently. Probably 98% lol.
Ill post pics when done. Congrats to all the other nominees! I was really happy to see the voting was so widespread! I too hope they get another nomination down the road!

I initially wasn't sure but after reading the entire post I said hmmm why not. Very cool ride, is it street legal? That would be too cool not to be able to give it a run on the street once in a while. I wouldn't drive it everyday but once in a while would be nice. Sweet car. Any pics under the hood and what about the side exit exhaust how noisy is it.

With side exhaust open its pretty loud, raunchy, its open pipes from the manifolds! Lol
These cars were ordered to be raced and sold the following season as regular street cars so the teams wouldnt be out a bunch of money so they're fully optioned!
Heres a view of the side exhaust, and no it doesnt bottom out... mind you I dont look for giant speed bumps..<br/>

Nice you have a definite keeper there. After seeing so many late third gens with the original wheels and I have not seen wheels in my price range I like that really make me say "WOW" I may just keep them. We'll see.

89 and older steering wheel (non-airbag) most I've seen had the earlier 4 spoke T/A steering wheel. That looks better.

this one still has the race prom / airbag bypass so they changed the entire column. My other one has the bag and 92 wheel.
