Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

thanks guys!

here are a few other pics
Details of the car:
22, 000 miles original. It is a 1988 Firebird GTA. it is one of 809 5 speed GTAs made in 1988 with a 5.0 not the 5.7 it comes stock with higher gears and more aggressive cam all stock.
I am the 4th owner of the car. the first two owned it for a year and traded it. the last owner owned it since 90 and put 3000 miles on it. I have put 2 over the last four years. The wheels are gold crosslace stocks with plastidip to make it black

Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

I am truly honored to be considered in this months COTM program. Thank you. All of the cars are great examples in this months bid. Good luck to everyone. My car is not an LS swapped monster, not a pristine time capsule with low miles. I put 5,000 miles on it this year. I will sometimes jump in it and just drive for hours for the mere joy of driving it. What it is, is a car that was loved for 16 years after being saved from the crusher. Three years of saving and acquiring parts for the restore. Pretty much all new mechanically,350 engine, exhaust, suspension, brakes, steering components, bushings. Added Alston SFCs, founders LCAs and panhard, global west steering brace to help curb body flex. Everything done by myself but the paint and bodywork and I had a heavy hand in the process of that.

The carpet is not faded to brown as it appears. There is a red glow from the evening light cast on everything in the pic.

Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

Hey guys, I'm astonished to be nominated again this month! Big thanks to tkerniroc1986 for the nomination this month! We have some super clean cars here, wish you all the best! Anyways, here is my 1986 sport coupe, it's my first car and my dad and I have been restoring her for the last 2 years now. Pretty much been through a whole mechanical restoration (brakes, steering, suspension, engine ect..) has a built up 305, it runs pretty good for what it is. Visual wise I just have done a lot of subtle touches to the inside and outside and generally improving the look of the car imo. Of course, pictures talk, so here are some!

Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

Wow, what an honor to be in the running for COTM, as mentioned in the nomination thread this car has come a long ways! I bought it in 2005 on ebay, when it had 21k, bone stock. Over time, I was able to get a 10.4:1 CR 406 in it, AFR 210 heads, Howards cam with .603/.620 lift, converted to Carburetor QF 850 w/Vic JR intake. Then the 4" exhaust made a huge improvement, it knocked a full second off my 1/4 mile. Here are some more pictures, thanks again for the nomination!

Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

First of all, thanks a lot everyone for the nomination and support of this car. It took hundreds of hours and a lot of hard work to get the car the way it is today. I put around 1500 km's on the car this summer, and hit up the Camaro Nationals in St.Catharines (the nomination picture is there), Benmar in Brantford numerous times, and drove it to London along the back roads to the ELTA Bash as well. Finally, the concluding trip was to St.Thomas' drag strip, a two hour drive along the back roads, and raced it 8 times with no problems at all, then drove it home. Extremely happy with the reliability and will be my full time driver in the spring when I get my G2.
The best camera I have was my Samsung Ace thing, but the pictures should speak for themselves.
A full build thread can be found here about half down the page (the rest is of what is now that doner car) -- http://ontariorodders.activeboard.co...rt=oldestFirst

Some professional photos and an article can be found here -- http://www.lugnutsmagazine.com/blog/...g-and-talented (You can click the small photos to enlarge them)

The best photos that I have of the car are as follows.

In terms of Specifications...
Year: 1987
Motor: 2.8L V6
Trim: Sport Coupe
Interior Color: Red
Upgrades
Monroe Sensatrak Struts
Energy Suspension/Prothane Poly Bushings All round
Moog Ball Joints, Tie Rods,
Magnaflow Performance Muffler + Stainless Pipes to Turndowns
New Weather Stripping from SoffSeal

Other than that, it is a really solid, reliable car. Ive had a lot of fun in it so far, and have kept the price relatively low so I dont have much to lose. It will be my daily driver next year, and will probably get dinged and what not, but at least im driving it around. Thanks again for, if im correct, 3 nominations. Never expected that with the stiff competition. I wish all the cars good luck, and am extremely anxious to see the results.

Thanks for the nominations/votes, I really appreciate it. I took some new photos today just for this

Like has been said before, there are a lot of beautiful cars on here this month. Zach and his Sport Coupe is nice and clean. Nick builds a beautiful convertible, glad that you are enjoying it again. Really digging 25thannivZ28 and all of the work that's been done to it, yet how clean it is. Really wish that I could get mine as spotless as Joe Tag has gotten his. All great cars, but I'm going to have to stick with Jbenge.

Thanks for the compliment....i think my next project will be a Ford 9" conversion. I don't think my 10 bolt can take much more. And brakes. I'm making it go faster, now I have to make sure it can stop

Re: November 2014 COTM **VOTING Thread**

Oh wow, thanks for letting me play! But I literally cannot compete with the rest of the nominee's here.

1985 Iroc
It was built in about 2003 using a L31 5.7, both motor and chassis are 76xxx-ish. The motor was out of a 99 tahoe w/vortec heads. And converted to TPI using TPIS brand parts. I believe it was used primarily at the 1/4 mile. I bought(rescued from being parted out) the car a few years back and have been cleaning it up as I go. It came with some slips when I bought it and I'm assuming the were the best the PO did at the 1/4 mile @ 13.2s

I got it for $3k but did not get to keep the moser 12-bolt or wildwood brakes on it and got the stock parts in their place.

I know nothing of the motors internals personally other than I was told it has a mild cam and it appears the heads are built a little too.

700r4 trans was built
Richmond 3.73 gears added to the 10-bolt rear end (of which just busted on me last month..)
LS1 aluminium driveshaft

Hooker supercomp LT's
Borla exhaust
Koni shocks in front
KYB shocks in the rear
Hotchkis springs w/ heater hose on them
Hotchkis rear control arms
Hotchkis Adj. panhard bar

Its really a driver project, I'm just a young man, with a young family trying to keep my head above water and playing with the car when I can. I think most folks would sell the car claiming they don't have time for it anymore. I figure its not costing me anything to keep it in the garage and get at it when I can. Anyway, thanks again! (I'm gonna vote for myself since none else is.)
