Its time to resurrect the ROC

Its time to resurrect the ROC
Hey Brothers, its been a long time, almost 4 years or so. When I was last active on the site, I had an 87 IROC Z l98 350 TPI with various mods (exhaust, CAM, headers, etc). I also had a site that linked to omnipotent..../gallery which was the nets largest gallery of Thirdgen Camaro and Firebird Pics for a time. I fell away from the ROC when I lost my Job, my car died on me after getting caught in a light flood and I let the site go (still have the picsthough) . I've since found a better job, and I picked up an E39 BMW as a daily driver whilst a good friend (BMW mechanic) worked on my car trying to get past a timing issue. One day he got the car working and handed over the keys, but guilt took over me (trying to be responsible) and I shelved the IROC for close to 3 years.
I gave up some parts that someone else needed (MAF sensor, and MSD 6AL) and anticipated that I would sell the car once I got married. I am since happily married and my queen is awesome. When we put the car in the garage, and I told her that I was likely going to sell it, her response was "Its already paid for, so why not enjoy it? ". For more reasons than that, i've definitely found a winner .
So where it stands now, IROC sat for 3 years roughly, in a field, was running at the time, (dry area thank goodness.. no rust) and its time to get her running again. She's in the garage on jack stands, fluids changed, waiting on a Battery, MSD 6A and a MAF Sensor. I've crept on the site every now and then to see whats new in the world of third gen, and I was hoping to use my tenure this 1 time and ask for quick updated synopsis on the following topics : ( I know I could search for them all, but please show some love to a brother trying to get back to the labor of love that is thirdgen)
- Kandied Z - What magic has he pulled out of his hat as of late? He seems to redo his car every few years
- Japanese Induction hood - Did the one Kandied was working on ever come to fruition ? (I've seen some of the custom jobs, look really nice)
- Carbon Fiber hoods - or Carbon fiber Parts
- Third gen Tail lights ? - Any LED options, and what about Lens replacements (mine are in 1 piece but spider cracks all throughout)
- Hood Louvers - Please tell me someone has started 3D printing these? -I refuse to go with NOS on these. Someone has to be fabricating these by now. I'd be more afraid of leaving these on the hood at the mall than I would leavining my T-Tops down
- 3D Printing - Have we started utilizing it ?
- Spark plugs - whats the new hotness that everyone is using ?
- 4th Gen Firebird Console with B&M Hammer Shifter - The struggle is real.. Did anyone ever get this combo to work without destroying the console ? (I destroyed one.. badly, ended up throwing it away)
- 5th gen Parts swap - I know someone is trying atleast some of it. I cant imagine the dash would swap reasonably, but what about the seats ?
- New solutions for stuff that we never could fix : ( saw a thread about the slow window motor that im looking forward to doing)
- Any new Engine parts, power adders, or new services offered for Third Gens ?
So I survived the tide, im back to ride.. whats good brothers (and sisters, haven't forgotten you RedRaif)? Whats new and hot in the world of thirdgen?

Re: Its time to resurrect the ROC
How you doing?Wondered what hapended after the PM I got from you a couple months back.I try to answer best I can, since im the first to reply.
- Kandied Z - What magic has he pulled out of his hat as of late? He seems to redo his car every few years
He hasn't been active on the forum in years.I think he sold his car.
- Japanese Induction hood - Did the one Kandied was working on ever come to fruition ? (I've seen some of the custom jobs, look really nice)
- Carbon Fiber hoods - or Carbon fiber Parts
Not sure which of the two, but I thought a read here someone makes it/them, pricey though.
- Third gen Tail lights ? - Any LED options, and what about Lens replacements (mine are in 1 piece but spider cracks all throughout)
Most LED TLs are stock mods, but spaghetti eng make a clear lens kit.
- Hood Louvers - Please tell me someone has started 3D printing these? -I refuse to go with NOS on these. Someone has to be fabricating these by now. I'd be more afraid of leaving these on the hood at the mall than I would leavining my T-Tops down
Don't think anyone is making these, maybe classic Ind.
- 3D Printing - Have we started utilizing it ?
Not that im aware.
- Spark plugs - whats the new hotness that everyone is using ?
I haven't seen anything that impresses me much.
- 4th Gen Firebird Console with B&M Hammer Shifter - The struggle is real.. Did anyone ever get this combo to work without destroying the console ? (I destroyed one.. badly, ended up throwing it away)
I leave this for someone else to answer.
- 5th gen Parts swap - I know someone is trying atleast some of it. I cant imagine the dash would swap reasonably, but what about the seats ?
Somebody here recently posted a seat swap.
- New solutions for stuff that we never could fix : ( saw a thread about the slow window motor that im looking forward to doing)
That might be my old thread. There's also the relay mod thread.
- Any new Engine parts, power adders, or new services offered for Third Gens ?
LS swaps seem to be the latest trend.

Re: Its time to resurrect the ROC
Much appreciated friend. I think it was your thread about the power window fix I saw. What is this Relay mod though ? I had considered taking it directly to the battery once before just to see if a lack of juice was the issue.. never could bring myself to do it though.

Re: Its time to resurrect the ROC
Yep, straight to batt basically. The relay fix by-passes the stock harness, so the switch triggers the relay & the relay provides power to the motor, from the batt.Requires four relay, one each for up/down.
Haven't done it myself as I don't feel like making/installing the harness & the "fix" I use is working well enough for me still.
Any current pic of your camaro?

Hawks has some tinted ones that look pretty sweet
- Hood Louvers - Please tell me someone has started 3D printing these? -I refuse to go with NOS on these. Someone has to be fabricating these by now. I'd be more afraid of leaving these on the hood at the mall than I would leavining my T-Tops down
Yearone has them but they are $260 each. Hawks has them for $500. Thirdgenranch has them for $350 a pair.
- Spark plugs - whats the new hotness that everyone is using ?
Good old copper core AC delcos. copper is the most conductive material. iridium, platinum, etc will last longer but aren't nearly as conductive
- 5th gen Parts swap - I know someone is trying atleast some of it. I cant imagine the dash would swap reasonably, but what about the seats ?
The LS3 is a nice part to swap. The LS7 from the Z28 and LSA from the ZL! would be nicer!! Check out this linkhttps://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...1-camaro.html/

Re: Its time to resurrect the ROC
I found these taillights but I haven't read anything about anyone using them. They look spiffy though:
