Re: There's a New Camaro In Town...
Thanks guys I've put alot of hard work into this cursed pile of scrap metal. HID retrofit (Actual projector glassed into a 4651 housing) is coming in the next 2 - 4 weeks.
The interior was 100% my own handywork. I've put ALOT of time and labor into this part of the car considering that when I first bought it, other than a POS JVC head unit and an F'd up megashifter that I ended up replacing and rewiring, the whole interior was 100% bone stock beechwood tan and missing the underdash panels to boot.
I would really like to win COTM. It would mean alot after everything I've put into this car especially since from day one about 90% of my information and research has come from this website.
I'm not sure I'll get it, but I'm damn sure going to try.

Re: There's a New Camaro In Town...
I can't remember where I first saw it, but after I did I HAD to have one. IIRC I bought it online for $20. It is a very nice handle. I found that the stock B&M handle felt puny in your hand. This one is beefier and about 30% bigger so it gives a solid feel while holding it, which is about as much as you'd have your hand on the shifter with a 5 or 6 speed since I have a manual valvebody.
It does not come with a button where the primer is on the bullet casing. I drilled out that hole and mounted a momentary button from radioshack and wired it to the relay cluster I fabricated that controls the TCC lockup.
Push button once to enable TCC and again to turn it off. Since the valvebody in my transmission is wired for a non computer controlled carbureted engine, it relies on governor pressure to lock/unlock the TCC and the ECM is unable to control this like stock would allow.
Since I have the full manual shift kit which places a spring clip on the governor, the governor is at full line pressure 24/7 so the only time the TCC unlocks is at WOT. I didn't feel like dropping the pan and playing mad scientist to restore the ECM control so I fabbed up the relay cluster.
I even went so far as to install a stock appearing indicator light into the gauge cluster:

Very nice build! Looks real good!! I like the black/red coating of the intake! That came out nice as I thought it was powdercoated as well.

Looking good dude! Pulled the bowtie stickers from the rear of the gfx, and your exterior is done. Very sharp car for sure. What kinda power you pulling from your little motor?

I myself am contrary to the bowties. A part of me likes them, and a part of me thinks they look out of place. At the end of the day though I have to be the one to figure that out. I think I shall beckon a little help from Photoshop!
The wheel is a grant sport club. I am not positive where the seats originated from, however I think they might be eBay. I bought them from the owner of the bodyshop that painted the car. They had never been used and were just sitting in his datsun. Even if they are eBay, they are pretty stylish and go well with the car. Not to mention that they are pretty well constructed and comfy as well.
As for power, I have not dynod the car yet however all snickering remarks from friends aside (Typical 305 hating BS), I was kind of surprised that a cheap rebuild with stock 601 heads (1.84 valves), 8.5:1 compression and an RV cam that hits a sudden wall and drops the front end at a measly 4500rpm was able to pull an 8th mile timeslip of 9.4 @ 71mph with a flat 2 second sixty (I am confident I could have broken 1.9 if I had tried a few more passes).
If you have not yet checked out the link to the stroker 305 I am planning on building at the beginning of this thread, go see it now!

Yeah I still get **** for my 305 too. I had thought a while back about getting aftermarket manifolds.
I did a quick clean up...

As for the 305 getting crap, that is precisely why I am building a 10:1 334 with TFS30300002 heads and a 276 Cam!

Alright. Here are the 3 edits I came up with using the GIMP.
You aren't going to like this, but I think I decided I like the marker light blackout while still keeping the bowties the best. I bowties WITH red marker lights just make it look like there's too much going on while ONLY the Z28 rocker logos look like not enough and a bit mundane. Keeping just the marker lights looked plain weird.
I'll probably grab another set of markers from the yard and smoke them out and toss the red ones in the classifieds for like $30 shipped.
Might not be the result you were hoping for, but It's what I like best. I think I am going to redo the side moldings though. The more I look at the end spears being as long as they are the more odd it appears.

Re: There's a New Camaro In Town...
It looks great the way it is but I agree ,black out the marker lights and run the bow tie . I would do the one change and then let that set in for a while. Just one of the reasons I like your car is the “theme” you have chosen. You don't see it often on this site,at least not to this extent. Leaving the car totally black and just using smoked red badging/etc. ,very nice. One of the things that makes or brakes a car set up like yours is the rake/stance. Its perfect.

FYI the suprises are not even close to being over with this car.
I have been secretly working on a little something something over the past few weeks and completed the first one last night so they are ready for their unveiling

I saw this car on facebook and was simply amazed. I love the black and red theme, its complete badass. I like the bowties, red marker/blacked out marker, and rocker panel. Regardless, whatever setup you choose to do will all look good.
Just a suggestion, If you were to tint your windows I think it would complete your exterior look 100%.

Proximity sensor??? Is that for the alarm??? Idk about where you are at but in Toledo you can go to the eye doctor tell him the sun light bothers your eyes ...he can give a doctor's note to have limo tent on your car...My boss has one ..and his 2013 300 has limo tent all the way around it....

The only problem with that and the reason I would not do it is because, well you know how alot of cops *cough*oink*cough* are.
They'll pull you over for the tint (Which is a BIG risk item for getting pulled over, or at least an excuse to legally yank you then look for bigger things) then already in ticket writing mode when they see you have a medical note they'll see what else they can zing you for while you're on the side of the road.
Legality is not exactly a top priority of mine with this car...

What projectors are those? h1 minis?

Re: There's a New Camaro In Town...
Those are the D2S morimoto minis. For future reference to anyone considering a retrofit I would HIGHLY recommend getting the H1 versions. The D2S versions are oddly shaped and different than the H1s and have proved very difficult to fabricate. As you can see from the photos I had to think outside the retrofit box and do a completely fiberglass-less fab. They also proved difficult to do a sealed beam, but using a generous amount of permatex black silicone adhesive I managed.
I removed the first headlight bucket a few hours ago and cut it to fit the projector through and will be trimming the header panel opening tomorrow. More pics to come!

Re: There's a New Camaro In Town...
This megashifter is almost 20 years IIRC. The one that was in the car when I got it almost felt like it was going to fall apart whenever I tried to use it so I bought another one off ebay. When I received it, it looked alot different from any megashifter I had ever seen. The gear indicator was part of the shifter instead of a separate cable driven piece and there was a big 16ga steel plate riveted to the side of the shifter assembly for reinforcement.
After a little research it turns out this was the original megashifter design from the 90s before they updated it to their current more flimsy design.
