Car Of the Month Calendar?

I am thinking someone should look into having calendars made with all the cars from COTM in order... I for one would definitely buy one... Anyone else thinking the same?

Re: Car Of the Month Calendar?

Guys we are currently in the works on this. Actually have a PM from JT I need to reply to about this subject.

I am totally open for input on the subject, but thoughts as of now will be to use cafepress to allow users to purchase as many as wanted without one person potentially holding the bill. We will have 12 months for the calender and plan to use the COT... YEAR as voted cover feature.

Its coming, just likely won't be able to squeeze out a 2013 calender in this amount of time. We are working on graphics and logo work in addition to getting out last couple months up.

I might be asking for some help on this (photoshop/graphic design type stuff). JT and I are still PMing each other about the subject, so bare with me.

Nuff I plan on using the 2012 COTM cars for the 2014 calender. The last poll for the COTM stuff will close jan 1st, and would kinda suck to have to rush together the calender, get it advertised to members and shipped. The members in the first couple months may get skipped over. I am very busy in January as well, so this is where the 2014 calender would come in and hopefully have for sale early 2013.

I WILL keep you all in the loop... I want this as bad as you do!

Wouldn't the December 2012 COTM be decided upon by December 1st? Hopefully everything but the December picture would be ready by then and you just have to add the one last picture. With online ordering on websites these days, I thought that would be plenty of time for people to order them before the holidays and throughout January. I'm not trying to make it sound easy because I've never done it before, but I thought Calendars were pretty easy to make through websites now.

He's got a point. Advertising could be used before making them. I wouldn't mind a 2013 calender in early 2013. And then you'd have the whole rest of the year to make the 2014 calender and slowly piece it together throughout the year and have it done by the new year.

Re: Car Of the Month Calendar?

Any of you guys computer graphic whizzes? I might start playing with this a little, and we need some variations of the TGO logo and "Thirdgen.org" to be able to use on each page.

Pm me, email or post here!

Re: Car Of the Month Calendar?

Have you guys tried www.zazzle.com to make the calendars? I started making my own calendars ( http://www.zazzle.com/goingfaster ) and its super easy on Zazzle, compared to Cafepress. Cafepress might get more traffic, but their menus and trying to set everything up sucked (IMO).

I haven't looked at that, but great suggestion with experience. I will look into it.

So like cafepress, once I create a calender on the site, it becomes available for the public to purchase? I assume you are "goingfaster", and that is your specific page?

I can't tell if you are being serious or if you're still bitter over the POTM argument by jumping to such conclusions.

There are many sites out there that will make calenders. They're working on that now. The money would more than likely be used for site expenses and making next year's calenders and possibly divided among the winners. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I would buy one, right now sad to say I have a mustang calander up cause I can't find any thirdgen camaro ones. If also like to see the pictures remain on TGO. Meaning only TGO members have their cars in the calander. Hmmm great idea for thirdgen fest !!

not bitter about anything, its a legitimate concern, what possible expenses are there for a forum? server? who would get how much of the earnings from the calenders being sold for what amount? who would actually get them made? when and where would they be sold? they're all good questions but i guess they'll get answered when you come to them, and i'm sure that if someone asked to use pictures of your car in a calender that they would sell and didn't explain if they would cut you in, for how much, or when/where they would be sold you'd jump right up and say okay go ahead, if so i have some ocean front property in arizona to sell you

It's a thirdgen calender. How many do you think they'll actually sell? There is no way they'd sell enough to cover server space and time for an entire year. It's more expensive than you think. Especially for fast servers. And even if it did, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if my car were used and I didn't get a check for it. Yeah, if they made millions of dollars and none of it went to the site then it would be cool to get money for it but I can't see that happening.

It's not that everyone is trying to condemn your questions as invalid (They are legitimate questions), they're just trying to make sure all parties are interested before trying to concrete the tiny details. If you get caught up on the little things too soon it'll take forever to get done.

you have everyone interested prepay to badnblk (or someone), get them made, and distribute them. Sell them at cost, no profits, no issue. The board is payed for by advertisements, internet brands owns the board I think.

Re: Car Of the Month Calendar?

Kmcn47, there are companies that sell custom made calendars over the internet as their business. It makes this entire process very easy. No members of this site will have to take orders, take payments, ship calendars or take a cut of the profits. I would think that there will just be a link posted here to the website where you can order the calendar for yourself.

As for the car owners (of which I am one), we would all give our permission to use our images free of charge. It's really an honor to be chosen, so I can't see why anyone would hold out for money to be included. It's pretty easy to replace any car with another beautiful 3rd gen if someone wanted to be difficult.

Agree, 100%. Why are there any questions being asked at all??? Make the calenders and we will buy!! I certainly wouldn't expect any kind of profit from this. If my car was one of the pictures, it would be an honor just to have it included. Stop looking at this from a profit point of view and more of a car enthusiest view.

Amen! The whole idea behind these calenders is to enjoy them. They are not for profit.
