Fesler Striker bolts
They have in the past said that they won't work on our cars, but I got a set for 70-81 camaros off a member on another site for too cheap to not try them... THEY WORK!!!
http://www.shopfesler.com/fesler-str...ainless-steel/
Here they are installed in my 91...
If any of you thought about getting some, here is proof that they work.

I wonder how long before they turn to crap, they do look completely awesome though....I ordered the stainless striker bolts that hawks sells for 30$. Feslers look like better quality though.

Re: Fesler Striker bolts
Sure they will take some wear in the small area where the latch hits it. But remember stainless is much harder than normal steel, so I bet they stay looking good for a long time.

Re: Fesler Striker bolts
Not true. In rare instances stainless steel (17-4SS)can be harder than grade 8 "medium carbon alloy steel" and at that its only by a slight margin on the Rockwell scale. Most production instances including 304 stainless (like hawks bolts) they are not harder than grade 8. Aside from the hardness scale stainless is not nearly as strong as medium carbon alloy, another reason why we dont use stainless steel on our chassis or suspension components.
Non the less like I said they look great which is why I bought a set. Just interested in how long they will last compared.

The reason stainless isn't used in automobiles is because it is extremely expensive compared to structural steel. Aircraft landing gear uprights are primarily made of stainless. You can be darn sure they wouldn't take a weight penalty if carbon steel was stronger.
As for hardness, I hate to quote wikipedia, but it shows 304 to be 66% harder than carbon steel.
Ever tried to machine stainless? Its is MUCH harder than mild steel.

Re: Fesler Striker bolts
Typical striker bolts are constructed of grade 8, not sure of what they were constructed of back in the 80's.
Typical 304 stainless is on the Rockwell B scale at 92. Typical hardness of grade 8 hardware is on the C scale somewhere between 30-40 I believe. Your right though typical stainless is in the yield strength category of around 205mpa or around 30,000psi slightly under what you stated and grade 8 is around 130,000 psi.
I'm not arguing with you in the fact that there are stronger stainless steels out there like 17-4 with yeild strength I believe to be somewhere between 110,000psi and 180,000 psi depending on the variation, they are much more expensive yes. Referencing from Hawks with their 304SS strikers they will be less strong and less hard than a standard grade 8 reproduction piece. But on the flip side they are stainless and will not rust like factory repro's will after the first few times the door latch rubs through the paint.
BTW I dont remember all this stuff, I am just referencing from my ASM reference books I use in the field.
Never tried to mill anything. But I would assume depends on what stainless you are milling.

I have seen the billet door vents, and I must say I am not a fan. If they were cheap enough I would paint them satin black but IMHO they look very tacky.

Bad, where did you find that picture? That style doesn't seem to match any of the descriptions. Do you have pictures of the other finish options?

I called them and the black and machined ones are custom order, and do not fall into the sale priced vents... So I ordered the first ones black anodize with raw mesh. EXCITED!!!!

If that is what you want. For $90 bucks i think the raw would make them pop in the jamb a little more. I don't care if you copy... I posted this to share with my brothas and sistas lol
I might just have 3 sets. The online ordering said I had a problem with my card, so I re-did it 2 times and called. Just got 3 emails thanking me for me order haha! I guess I gotta call them back LOL

Well I talked to Fesler and now they are saying the black with machined highlights is no longer an option. It has been discontinued. So its black on black for me.

Well I got mine but they sent me the first gen version.
So anyway, they said they are machining the second gen ones now and they should be shipped out in 2-3 weeks.
Anyway, they look nice. The only things I didn't like is the screen is hot glued to the frame and the mounting hole is not deburred.

What is the purpose of door jamb vents?!?!? They look easy enough to custom make a set yourself. Door strikers are thr same i put on my 79 camaro. No some brushed aluminum door sills!!!!!

Re: Fesler Striker bolts
Had mine on the car for about two years now and they look just as good as they did when I installed them. The striker bolts don't show any signs of wear at all. A bit pricey for such a relatively minor item, but to me they were well worth it. Quality product.

I don't think they are that pricy, for the quality the look but then I don't know how much OEM ones are. These will definitely end up on my car. Eventually. I do like that they add a small nice details and it's all in the details.
