"head on" pics of polished wheels

Just wondereing if anyone could post some pics of polished wheels "head on" (not aftermarket, stock third-gen wheels) I've read tons of people have their wheels polished to a mirror like shine, but none of them show pics of how clear the shine is. Instead, I keep seeing pics of polished wheels from side angles that show nothing other than the fact the factory lines were sanded down and polished. I've seen virtually nothing showing how reflective these wheels are. If not showing the reflection, exactly what is the "mirror like" in reference to? One would think if true "mirror like" results were achieved, a head on photo would be best way to show off such results. Any pics would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Re: "head on" pics of polished wheels

Getting around to polishing a set of rims I picked up cheap. Hadn't found the pics of polished wheels I was looking for, but I figured I'd give it a go anyhow since these are an extra set of wheels. Searched this site for polishing info and went with the "sand to 400 grit, polish with compound on buffing wheel" route. I'm somewhat pleased with the results, but it still doesn't shine as well as I'd like. Up close I get a good reflection, but as I get farther away, the reflection distorts and becomes cloudy. The only remaining lines (which are noticable) are lines made from the polishing compound and buffing wheel as I go over and over the surface. When I switched over from tripoli to the white rogue it started to remove the scratches I have, but also started to haze up my reflection. I get the feeling the drill is too slow since the finer compound should clear up the finish as opposed to make it cloudy. I'm thinking of picking up an electric polisher/buffer next week in hopes of getting a better reflection.

Are you guys getting good results polishing with a drill? ANY head on shots of polished wheels you guys have done, would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to have something to compare my results to.

Re: "head on" pics of polished wheels

a drill won't turn fast enough to get the mirror finish you want, need a small grinder polisher with the cutting pad and polish pad.

Re: "head on" pics of polished wheels

good to know, I thought the drill speed was the problem. when you refer to cutting and polish pads, are you refering to actual pads, (similar to the ones used in buffing your car) or buffing wheels as described in the writeup(s) on this site?
