PICS of THE Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro from the movie
We were lucky enough to be able to tour the GM Heritage Museum the other day and WOW, there were a ton of awesome cars up there. We had no idea what we would see, but when we were walking amongst iconic Corvettes and Camaros, Caddys, concept cars, on and on... We were like kids in a candy store. We took tons of pics, the rest are on our facebook if you want to see CLICK HERE.

Re: PICS of THE Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro from the movie
ive watched the behind the scenes so many times it isnt funny, they actually had 2 5th gen camaro's in the first movie, but ive never heard of them being GTO's with Camaro body kits, both were said to have been hand built for the movie
infact the 2nd gen bumble bee was originally going to be an Iroc-z, but they decided on the 2nd gen for some reason, ill have to watch it again within the next few days and post some pictures of the 3D editing of the Bumble bee 3rd gen in robot form

Re: PICS of THE Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro from the movie
Steve Saleen made a body conversion kit to turn 2 2006 GTO's into look alike 2010 Camaro's. Known that since the first movie.
The ONLY 2010 Camaro in existence at the time the movie was being shot was the 2006 Concept car from the Detroit Auto Show.

Funny how he changed from one movie to the next. The nose is wrong for the 1st movies version of Bumblebee.

where did you hear that? i heard that 5th gens are the same platform as the G8 but not the GTO, then again i dont know the platform for the GTO

they used the GTO because there werent any panels made yet for the camaro. so they build everything from the ground up.
1 giveaway is the brakes.
look at some pics of bumblebee, it will have the 5th gen camaro whels but there are no brake claws on the brakes behind them.
thats because the wheels where actually made the look like 5th gen wheels, and the brakes are actually painted or on the wheels.

Great stuff everyone. I personally never knew about the Transformer car being a GTO really.
Scott-sorry, we just figured we'd share our trip pics. It was a once in a lifetime trip.

Re: PICS of THE Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro from the movie
i just reread the info on the original movie camaro, yes the GTO was used but the entire body of the camaro is the same mold for the concept car, saleen boxed the unibody of the GTO, cut the entire body off the car, and put the Camaro bodies on the GTO chassis
i was thinking you all were saying they just took GTO's and added body parts to make it look like the camaro
in essence i guess its the same thing, my mind was just going crazy, still very interesting to know as i am a huge Transformers fan and never even thought of checking to see who built the camaro's(disc 2 states that GM built them specially and each cost over $500,000)

Wrong again. I have the 2 disc collectors edition as well and they never said that at all.

Re: PICS of THE Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro from the movie
Wrong, the article I linked has that part wrong. I've asked several GM engineers and body works people about this and they all confirm what Steve Saleen has said all along: The cars were custom one offs based off photos of the 2006 concept. Saleen had to make its own molds for the body.
i know for a fact they say GM built them on the disc, but i also know they are wrong when saying it, everybody knows when people are making a movie nobody knows the full story on who built what except for the people directly dealing with them being built
i know thats what they say on the disc, but i also know now they are wrong in about everything they say about the camaro's
