GTA Rims Help
Hey guys i recently purchased a set of gold cross laced GTA rims. I got a good deal on em but they need some TLC. So i decided to sand the lips down eventually. Now im in the processes of planning everything out. I plan on doing what this guy did http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox...els/wheels.htm . But idk if i should repaint the centers. Im 15 and am on a budget. I can afford to paint them with some quality spray paint and that is about it. Will it come out okay or is it B**CH to get the paint evenly on the rim. I know to use some etching primer, but what paint should i get that is good quality and matches the original gold color. Something that is durable. And should i paint em???
Thanks
Thanks

Re: GTA Rims Help
wait at least 24hrs before bumping a thread, patience
just pick up some wheel paint, its not that expensive. If you tape everything off, it will look great when you are done. Just make sure the centers are clean and degreased before you paint or it will fish-eye.
I just did a set of gta wheels over the winter, they came out pretty nice. The bare aluminum lip needs to be sealed, not painted. Most clear coat will not stick to bare metal, you would have to fine clear paint. good luck
i used Zoopseal on the lips, working well so far, but its not cheap.

Mine started out gold, but I used Rustoleum rattle can gloss black on mine about 2 years ago. They still look great.

Re: GTA Rims Help
Sand the lips with say 400-600 to start work your way up to 2000 grit, now sand the crosslace sections with 400-600, maybe work up to like 800. clean the wheels good, once nice and dry tape off the lips and paint the crosslace sections with a good spay paint. then polish the sanded lips and they should look killer.

Re: GTA Rims Help
I picked up a set of red ones about a year ago
and redid them in White
I did all the things that fellow did in the site you have listed except polishing(I'll do that now since my car is back from the paint shop).I think I only used 3 cans of Dupli-Color Perfect Match WA8554 White(same color as car),you need to apply multiple fine coats, you Don't want to load it up and have runs and drips.Take your time between coats and let it dry according to the directions(BE PATIENT,DON'T RUSH)and everything will turn out with outstanding results

Re: GTA Rims Help
Rustoleum wheel paint. It's cheap and if you take the time to do good prep work they'll come out great. I spent a weekend sanding down my camaro rims. Then a coat of primer, couple coats of black wheel paint followed up by a couple coats of clear. Just remember the better job you do prepping the wheels the better your paint will look.
