IROC GFX Stripes YAY or NAY?
Hey guys. The irocs going into paint this saturday and i got a few questions. (1989 IROC lb9 t5)
Bright Red body. The headlight buckets will be black. No door side moldings.
Whats your opinion on the black and grey stripes that go on top of the GFX? Put them on, or leave them off? Sometimes i think it looks vleaner without them.
I got the bright red, whats the "code" so i get the correct color?
Thanks guys!

I know this won't help, but your car will look good either way. Bright Red is eye catching and will stand out alone. The stripes are a good compliment to the red paint and keep the original look of the car. To me, it's a coin toss and only you can truly decide... have a few drinks first

DEF use the stripes. it looks much better, makes the GFX stand out, and overall is just appealling to me.

IMO I like them off better. I took all of mine of my red car and like it that way. They don't look bad at all on the car either.

Use the stripes.......just looks better in my opinion. As far as the red goes, use Torch Red. Its a GM color used on the C5 Vettes. Nice bright red red......not orangey like some of them.

I agree, that's the color I plan on painting my iroc as well. It's the factory color on my 99 ta, it still looks great on that car and it's 10 years old now.

I like the stripes. You can always take them off if you don't like them. When I get my '87 z convertible repainted the stripes will be going back on. It basically comes down to - do you or don't you like the stripes? Your the one who has to live with it.

I didnt do it because I did not have the money at the time, and since then it has grown on me. So check out my car in my sig to see if you like it or not.
I still need my head light pockets black though.

I already had the door decales on my car, But for the stripes the kit is too expensive, and I wasnt sure if i wanted them or not so at the local auto store they hade a role of the identical stripes For $10 and I put them on.
What you guys think?
No stripes?
Stripes?
I Personaly love the stripes on my car now.

my iroc originally came with the door decal and no gfx. it was repainted. i like it that way. if you plan on keeping everything exterior stock (stock wheels, hood, emblems) then go ahead and put them on.

Re: IROC GFX Stripes YAY or NAY?
Heres what i've decided.
**Stock bright red
**Gray/Black GFX stripes
**Gray IROC-Z door decals
**stock silver "tuned port Injection" emblem on bumper
**NO door bumpers
**NO "tuned port injection" decals under rocker emblems
**Alluminum rocker and bumper emblems
**17" chrome iroc reps
Any other thoughts? I already ordered the bumper and nose emblems. Just need to find someone to make me the alluminum emblems.
Could someone photoshop me a pic with all this? Thanks!

Re: IROC GFX Stripes YAY or NAY?
You've made a good choice, nothing looks better than a factory appearing Iroc. If you don't believe me look around, you will see some with ugly aftermarket hoods and wheels, makes you appreciate the factory look. In my area there is a kid with one of those vomit inducing daytona hoods and newer ss wheels and it just looks tasteless. The wheels arn't so bad, they just arn't as nice looking as the factory wheels, I could see using em if you didn't have the right wheels for it tho.

I removed mine. I personally think it looks better without. Just put the IROC door decals on and remove the stripes. I have a bright red IROC as well and IMHO looks better without it. I may change my mind down the road if I get bored with it and decide to put it back on.

Re: IROC GFX Stripes YAY or NAY?
I tell you guys what ill do. Once my car is out of the shop, ill take a few pics with the door decals on (I AM putting them on) without the GFX stripes. Then ill have someone photoshop the stripes on the pic, and ill see what i like better. I'll take a few pics of the progress the body shop made so far yesterday and today. Got to get my ECM out anyways.

Not sure it will make a diff, as said above, red is just one of those colors that jumps at u regardless. Either way will look great.

How about a compromise and use just one stripe? Looks pretty good on my Hot Rod!

Re: IROC GFX Stripes YAY or NAY?
Thanks for all the help guys! I'm going to get the set with stripes through f-body warehouse, $200 shipped.
Now, i need the IROC-Z rocker and rear bumper emblems. I really want them made out of stainless or alluminum. WHERE DO I FIND THESE?!?! Could someone make me some? I'd be willing to pay $75 for them! Thanks

[quote=Rumblin70SS;4126459]Wow! Great idea! What store did you get the stripes from? I went to Pep Boys and didn't see anything.........as usual!
A good parts store that sells paint products should have a selection of 3M stripes.
