What to blast brackets with?
I recently had to change my pulley setup from pre 88 to the 88 and up style because of headers. I got the brackets from my parts car, but they are corroded pretty bad.
How can I restore them to the original look? I was thinking of sanding or sandblasting them, but am not sure what kind of finish that will leave. If I were to blast them, what kind of abrasive would work best from making them look close to original.
I included a picture of the pieces I am talking about. Just the aluminum brackets that hold the power steering, alternator, smog pump, and AC on. Thanks

with steel parts most anything you have . with alum. plastic media or walnut shells at low press. . another old trick , clean very good ( to bare metal ) , let soak covered with cheap white vinegar . yes i said vinegar , it is a mild acid and will seep into and remove corrosion pits . scrub with stiff brush a time or two while it soaks . 2-4 hours should do it , wash & clean as if for paint . paint if you like , i did mine . i know some of you will laugh at the use of vinegar . antique restoring people have been doing this with all metals for decades . don't laugh untill you try it . it works . good luck . ( i know i'm going hear back on this )

Re: What to blast brackets with?
Thanks for the help. I decided on blasting them with plastic media mainly because I have some other parts that will also need to be blasted. The vinegar idea sounds like it would be a great thing to try and a lot cheaper, but since I have some pulleys and other parts that need blasting, I am just going to blast the brackets too. Thanks again.
