I'm not going to tell anyone what they should do to there car or what they like. But I have put these style hinges on a caddy truck at work. I do not think it was from this company but they look the same.. All of them work the same. If u want to mess up your car. Put these on.1st u have to cut all kinds of metal away to make room for the hinge. 2nd the door is never as strong as it was. And 3 if u live in the cold them gas shock stop working. And I think these doors are dangerous. What if the door is up and that strut goes out. Right when u are getting out of the car. U will have a 250 pound door falling on u... I could go on and on... but i will stop here.. I can not wait till this fade dies.

first explain how the door won't be as strong? second the door doesnt weigh 250lbs, and 3rd when have you ever seen a gas strut just give out? Most of us that are doing custom things to our cars have a place to keep said cars. also most have another vehicle as a daily driver in the winter.

by the way still havent heard back from them. this is getting old.

When the door is open its very flimzy. Ok maybe they don't weigh 250 pds but i do know they are heavy and if they did fall it could knock u out. I have seen gas struts go out all the time. That truck I did just came back yesterday cuz the door will not stay up cuz its 0 blow here. How many camaro have u seen were there is a stick in the back for the hatch. And I understand about doing custum things to your car. I'm all for it. But this is just a bad thing to do to a car.If u want to do to your car your anyone else wants to thats great I will not down u for that. Hell might even be able to help. But theres no one out there telling how bad these kits are.And once u put them on you are stuck with them.

These are bolt-ons, not welded - otherwise I would have taken no interest in them at all. Too bad they don't want our business. As far as my worry about the struts giving out, here in South Florida we might see 40* once or twice a year. I was cold yesterday and it was about 58*!

good news guys just got an email back from them finally.

Hey,

Sorry for the delay. Your Driver Side hinge was sent out last Friday so you should be expecting it very soon. We can't wait to see pics of it installed. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to email me.

Thank,
Kyle Wesley
Xtreme-Doors
So i should get it this week. No promises of install this week. Family problems and it being 12 degrees and in the negatives with the wind chill factor. I'll get a picture of the kit for sure. lol no promises on the install.

AND what i was saying before struts don't just go out, they get bad over time yes, but not all at once. Plus supposedly with this kit you get a pretty good opening degree before they have to go up so they function like normal doors to an extent. I'm excited!

On 3rd gens the door hinges are weld on on the door.. So what u have to do is cut the part of the hinge were the pin goe through. And u drill holes in to the plate part.. So if u ever want your old hingesback on u would have to weld new ones on or get a new door. It not like u can just take these off and on

Re: Vertical Doors

I am telling you from personal experience... DON"T DO THIS MOD!

If you want more warnings, go to my CD site and find the pages about it. Granted I had a model hinge that came out a couple years ago, IT DOESN"T MATTER.,... stuff is bad news. You get tired of it really really really fast, it just takes too much work to open the damn thing, and I had mine istalled with hinges and struts strong enought that the door could be pushed up with my pinkey finger. The doors don't open enough, it is expensive and you have to destroy your doors to get them to work.

Please! please! please! Listen to my warning.... DON'T DO THIS!!!!!!!!

If you don't listen, post back after you have done all the work and wasted a ton of $, and I will have the "I told you so" ready and waiting.

Re: Vertical Doors

Ok here is the problem. The point that the attach is a tinny little lipple held on by a pin smaller than a paperclip. A lot of force for a small part like that. After that, you just can't go back to stock without getting another set of doors. Third, people think that this will help in a tight spot, not true. The doors have to open almost as much as they would for you to get out, just for them to go up.

Also if you think of how a tripod work to stabilize itself, that how our doors don't shake, stock. They have to hinges, and a striker. When you do this mod, you have no lower hinge anymore. That like a tripod with 2 legs. They fall over since they can't balance. What I am trying to say is that once you have these on, you can grab your door on the top and bottom and wiggle it. Easily, since there are only 2 points to attach to. And finally they really really suck cuz if you wanna swing by to the store to grab something quick and you aren't going to a car show, you just wanna get out normally, you can't. The door can only swing out enough for you to get your leg out and kinda side slide your way out. This is due to the gas struts hitting the fender, even when notched side fold you will still have this issue.

I hope that is more specific for you. Not to mention the fact that they make the car, not track legal, and destroy the frontal impact safety of the car. This is due to you haveing to cut up the front fender "horns" to mount all the stuff. Those are the large pieces of metal that take the impact in case of a crash.

I think thats it. But I might think of more stuff later.

Please dont do this mod. It also gets old REAL fast when you have it on. Esspecially for the price. Almost a grand for the ones I bought and that was with a free installation.

Frankly, I think the lambo door kit looks stupid (real stupid), and so are the people that put them on.

Knock yourself out though (maybe literally).

Frankly, I think your name is retarded *pause* (real retarded), and so are the people that think it's cool to add z's to the end of their name.

Thanks for the positive re-enforcement though, and i hope you just made your day a little better by releasing some of that old man anger.

Take care and gl.

Re: Vertical Doors

Please re-read all the other reasons why they suck that I said. Price is not the biggest concern. You can always save up a little more $ or whatever.

My other points have to do with you litterally not liking your car as much. Please re-read them. Go to my CD site and you will see pics of how far the door can open, and it is less than that too, cuz I didn't even have fenders on and fitted. Just check it out, and you will thank me.

I used to think it would be cool, but then I thought. Am I doing this for me to like or for others to like. Once I figured it was a mod for people to go oooo, aaaaa... it was easy to change my mind.

What I really like is driving down the road and having people ask "Hey is that a 383!!??" stuff like that, not little honda guys squaking at my door angle.

but thats just me. Please take my advice.

Chill, the people get your point. Let people make their own decision on what they want to do with their car.

But also about the safety frontal impact point, you were only saying that because you have to remove the horns im guessing cause it interfers? Why cant you just move the horns?

I would never put a kit like this on my car though. I think they look kinda cool sometimes, not worth the money and the weight in my opinion, its cool for shows thats about it. But you better have the rest of the car looking tip-top or else then it looks like you half-assed the car cause you have enough money for verticle doors but not enough money for paint, engine, interior or whatever else isant perfect on the car. Example: Kinda like the hondas with color mismatched body panels yet they had enough for verticle doors...looks dumb.

Re: Vertical Doors

Stevo: There is no way in hell you can "move" the horns. The horns ARE your fender/hood mounting resting points. If you moved the horns, you would have no FRONT of your car. These hinges require you to cut into them and remove the lip that takes in the hit of a crash.

I am not sure how else to describe it. It is like having your arm stretched out in front of you. When you lock them straight, they are hard to push since the force gets transmitted to your body and not your arms. They act like columns, and in the even of a REAL hard push, they would bend before your arms ripped of your body. Well same with the car, the horns are like arms that are locked out infront of you. When you get in a crash they are supposed to bend to take in some of the energy of the crash. And then colaps into the firewall, making the saftey bubble that all modern cars have. Well when you cut these arms, you are taking away that defense. So in a crash the only thing stopping the impact is your firewall, that you are right behind. Does this make sense? I am not sure if that was a good analogy, but when you install these hinges on our cars, you loose all frontal integrity, and no there is abolutly no way you can "move" them, they are huge. Like I can shove my hand and forarm up inside of one, so there is absolutly no place for them to be put.

Hope that made sense...
