looks great, congrats. maaco actually does a good job of laying down paint, you just gotta do your own prep for best results. my iroc is wearing a maaco job, doesnt look half bad. just keep some wax on it! paid $3300 for it, it i think i got a deal

That's pretty good, What area are you in? I'd go to that Maaco, even if it only lasted a few years.

For $3300, it better last!! A good body shop will do a great job for $3300. Maaco should not have been an option for that price.

I don't think Maaco would even have a paint service that cost that much. Their top service I think is only like 1500 or so

everyone disses maaco but if u buy the $250 job, your going to get a $250 paint job. one of my best friends had his monte painted at maaco. he paid around $2500 and the thing came out beautifully. too bad its been sitting in the driveway for a year and a half with no engine.

That's really the #1 in the country? Wow, I've driven by that place so many times and thought about getting my car repainted, but never actually seriously considered it. Would you suggest doing your own prep work and primer or should I be okay just sending it there and having them do it?

When you guys talk about applying primer to the car, how do you do that? Do you use hardware store spray paint primer?

i was thinking of getting my truck repainted by maaco in stratford. the one in norwalk did it before about 7 years ago and the truck still looks decent except for the scratches from off roading but they have closed up shop since then. how did you find out the ratings of the macco shops from which ones are best to worst

My brother-in-law owns a Maaco in Georgia and tells me he gets outsource work from a lot of the good paint shops in Atlanta/Macon. If you write off Maaco as a place to get your car done you are either a snob or a fool with your money (or you own your own paint/body shop).

If I move back there, he's totally doing my car for me.

Obviously the rims are not correct, but that can never be a determining factor. Based on the condition of the paint, I would say that the entire car is sporting it's original paint. If that's correct, then the headlight pockets should be black and the hood would have the louvers in it.

What does it have for a steering wheel? A round horn button or square? Emblems and badges are easily swapped.

It was $1300.00 bucks... Maaco did the prep and paint. They replaced my driver side mirror and hood. It took them about 2 weeks to get it done. I did some prep work myself and went to Maaco a couple of times to see how it was progressing. I think that that is what helped them to do a better job..

I think you did too.... If you are willing to do the prep work then Maaco will be fine. I think that a lot of issues are due to NO prep and NO taking care of the car afterwards. I just can't see laying down $1300.00 and not keeping up with the car. I microfibered it the other day, when it was getting dirty and it looks awesome. I'm not even going to consider waxing it for another month or so. It's been 3 weeks since it was painted and I can still smell vapors. It's still curing...

Work OT, sell some BS, do whatever... Don't get anything you take pride in painted at those places. Ever heard of, "Do it once, do it right."

If you are like me and was going to college full time and also having to work to pay off bills, then getting it painted at Maaco or Earl Scheib was the solution. I'm not saying they are the greatest, I'm not even saying they are decent. But so many people think it's easy to make that extra money to pay for a body shop to do it.
