Considering these Rims

Hey guys, I have these 16X8 (1st pic)rims sitting around. I thought if I learned how to clean/polish them up they might look better then the steel wheels, (2nd pic) I currently have. What do you guys think, clean/polish the aluminumn rims, or keep the good lookn steelies? I'm not even sure if the alum. rims will fit, I'm not sure of the backspacing, Bolt pattern is 5 on 4 3/4. Can anyone let me know what backspacing will fit a 91 RS w rear drums.

Thanks,
Kris

I have gotten alot of compliments on the steel rims, thats why I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinion.

Can anybody lead me in the right direction to get the aluminumn cleaned up/ polished so they will look good.

There's a sticky at the top of the Auto Detailing and Appearance boards on polishing wheels.

Personally, I like the steelies more. Those aluminum ones are kinda weird...

I know that there not in the best condition. But I'm wondering if I should invest the time to polish them up and use them? Would that design look good on a camaro? I'm really stumped guys. I'm having a hard time making up my mind on this one. Your input will help me out.

i think the first ones would look good on a 4th gen, but they wouldnt fit a third gen at all, especially not a camaro.

I don't love either one, but I might be leaning towards the rims in the second pic. The top ones seem a bit too "busy" in terms of the style of the design.

Well these are the choices I have for now, if there was another choice I would have posted it.
I'm not fond of the factory rims at all, sorry.

Fair enough.

I just went to your "garage" page and saw a pic of your car with the steelies on it. They look pretty good on the car. Based on that, I'd say definitely keep them, and stay away from the weird looking wheel in the first pic. They look a bit like the stock rims from a Lincoln MKVIII...not Camaro material at all.

If not a fan of the stockers then I'd agree with bull and just keep the steelies until another, cleaner, less truck-like wheel option comes up.

maybe cause if all those people told you that honestly they both kinda suck, but the best to do would sell both and get something that is actually nice you would get offended...

Sorry but I would take the stock salad cutters over either of those...
The stock 15" five spokes and a strip and polish...
Hit a junk yard and get some stock 16" -ers...

The first set looks as though it belongs on a family's 4-door sedan.

Although I dislike the second set as well, it doesn't look as out of place, reminding me of a style of wheel that people were all over in the 80's.

I have to agree with the general consensus on the wheels... I wouldnt prefer either of the wheels, but if forced, would choose the steels...

Polish them up for the hell of it. Put some street tires on the 1st ones and some more drag looking tires on the 2nd ones. Hsve two decent looking wheel sets.

I like them both!

i would polish the first ones and sell em.

keep the second ones. i would not roll with those steeles unless i had too, but they look good on your car. better then the 1st wheels would. not my style but nice.

Id roll on the steelies for a little while BUT BUY NEW< GOOD WHEELS ASAP!!!!!! Seriously, I hate ugly wheels. Wheels make or break a car. Perfect example...

Not THAT bad but it isnt anything special and the wheels were pretty ugly. Now, I simply swapped my wheels and NOW look at it.

Now the car has a TOTALLY differant look to it. With the old wheels, it was like "eh, just a weak little ugly Fox body." Now I get "Whoa, whats all done to that car man, it looks wicked!"

Well I deceided to keep the steelies on there for now. I might change them out after some other more pressing matters get taken' car of.

TBI92Camaro, It doesn't matter what wheels you put on a mustang, it still looks ugly

Does make the car look alot better

I still think stock rims would look better on that 5.0 you just made it scream 80s aftermarket imo. I got nothing against stangs just i still dont think those rims are all that. The tire you got on there is something to talk about though.

sometimes thats all you can get your hands on at the time... off topic, but i hate how mustangs are "performance" cars, and they have 4 LUGS!!!

Keep the second ones, they kinda look like weld drag lites, nothin wrong with them....plus polishing rims sucks. 4.5 backspacing with an 8 inch rim

those are centerline warriors on TBI92Camaro's new ride. they are some of the lightest and roundest wheels out there for drag racing. the only thing i don't like about them is that you can NEVER capture the detail in that wheel. they always look like cheap steel wheels in pictures and yet, they are a perfect example of some of the fine machine work that american companies can do. they are a great wheel...if your looking close, lol!
