1984 trans am pictures!?
Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of restoring the graphics package on my '84 and I've come to realize that there ISNT HARDLY ANY pictures of the 1984 Trans Am on the internet that show the factory graphics.
So, this week I go in with what I have, which isnt much. Then, when I get back, I'll post them.
FWIW, Here's the car as it currently sits. It really needs graphics to complete the paint, IMHO. My car has been without its stripes for twenty years and it's time to put 'em back!!

That car is gorgeous man. I love the color combination and the hood. It works really well with your car. Good luck and keep on posting your progress..

Thanks everyone, I got the decals on today and THEY ARE GREAT!
Phoenix Graphics, you guys are too cool.
No pics yet, I need to wash and re-wax. However, since no one's seen the "under hood"picture before, this ought to tide you over until the new shots get taken:
With the new engine, I went 12.90 at 113.0 MPH in Memphis on May 9th. then took 1st place in the NFME "prepared"class autocross.
Traction??? What traction?? I like powah-steerin'

Here it is, after the decals were added.
Here's a link to the BIG photos that show the paint in all its glory.

Andris Skulte sells them, he's got the offsets all figured out such that you can run the same size & offset on all four corners. That makes tire rotation easy. About all you might need to do is add a slim 5mm spacer on the front, unless you go to 1LE rotors, at which time no spacer will be necessary.

ws6 trans am that is a beautiful package of an 84 you put together. I was wondering are those the stock gfx on the car. Like is that chin spoiler on 82-84s with the aero package. Its just that it looks like the 85-90 Trans am gfx added to the bottom of a 84. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also those Roh ZS Racing wheels definately complete the package. The hi res pics just show how nice your car is.

Thanks, Jim.
No, these are the original 1984 gfx pieces, all the way around.
What has changed are the body side moldings. I stripped off the black stockers and installed some new pieces from a 1991 model which I painted body color. I've also painted the door locks and door handles body color, rather than leave them black. I've also installed a fiberglass reproduction 1989 TTA spoiler onto the back to help "bring up" the rear to match the hoodline. I've also cut the original '84 WS6 springs 1/2 coil to lower the car approximately one inch. It's sitting at 26.5 inches in the front and 27 3/4 inches in the rear, as measured from lower fender lip to ground.
The seats are from a 1994 Formula, the brakes are from a 1991 1LE package, and the instrument panel gage cluster is a mixture from 1987 and 1990. Those are most of the visual changes that I can think of.

I have always loved the look of your bird. The new spoiler and hood look pretty sweet too.
However, I think the car looked much better without the stripes. Sweet ride man!

I like the stripes. I did notice something I didn't like though... dang your exhaust hangs low at the front by the Y-pipe!!! Are you missing a hanger up there or is it hanging low for some other reason? Sweet looking ride, but man, those pipes have to scrape somethin fierce!

I want a T56 crossmember that doesnt lever on the mounting bolts. I'll also be fabricating my own decoupled torque arm since Unbalanced Engineering doesnt seem to be making one for the third-gens.
Thanks for the compliments, and for the record, I really, really like my stripes!! It's what separates my machine from the hundreds of other plain-painted '84s out there Wait until you see the custom graphics I'm designing to put onto the hood: It's a variation of the louvered hood graphic that was used on the '84 and 1983 Daytona 500 pace car, only it's bigger and a two=piece design
