Back Hatch + Tint...

Anyone ever remove the defroster grid to get a clean slate for tinting? I don't use the grid anyway, and was wondering if it just peels off, or is it embeded into the glass? I also have what looks to be "Metal Scratch" that's in the glass that I want to buff out...it's between the grid here and there, and will most likely be shot anyway.

Anybody take it off before? How hard is it?

Thanks!

its probably gonna be cheaper to go find a new hatch wihtout the defroster grid, shouldn't run you more then 50 bucks

Yeah, I was thinkin' of just changin' the whole hatch too...but, I figure, I have the time, and wouldn't mind messin' w/ it, so, why not try and deal w/ the one I got? Plus, wouldn't have to prep the deck, edge molding, etc. all again...

it didnt come over very easy so i bought a defrosterless one. I went to a junkyard and tried to scrape it and it didnt wanna come off very easy and i used a flat razor.

your best bet is to go a junkyard and find a hatch thats either damaged or defrosterless, experiment trying to take off the grids on a bad one (so you don't ruin a perfectly good one)

or just buy the new one
