heres a photoshop, im fairly certain im going to do this to my car eventually. I think it looks awesome. The only thing it could use is a metal plate along the top and left and right side of the opening.

i really expected more dislikes on it, keep the comments coming. I like the idea for two reasons first of all i think its the only way exhaust tips would ever look right on a third gen. Also it goes with the overall theme of my car where when i dont like the way something looks i just take a dremel too it and change it. Actually in the next 2 weeks ill have the front bumper cover and the custom stuff done to it and ill have pics up of that too so you guys know what im talking about

Thats an idea I was thinking about. They don't look out of place like I thought they would. I say go for it, and if you do, let me know how they look in person.

I think the notch is cut a little too severe. Maybe just to the middle of the fx. Not bad though. nosaint did a mild notch with his t/a, looked very good.

if you have it still handy, make another with the tips a little wider apart. base it on the 4th gen rear end, comparing the two the 3rd gen back looks like there closer... if u want..? maybe with singles as well? I konw i'd like to get dual 3.5" stainless steel tips that woudl look sweet but if I get those, I think i'd have them near the side like some people have, where u can faintly see the side of them, cuz I'd be wanting to have some curb appeal with those things

srry dont think that last pic is gonna happen. Ive already asked for a bunch of chops and would probably ask for one more, but its a lot easier to take a car with no tips and chop tips onto it, then to try to move the tips up because he would then have to edit it so there would be something where the old tips used to be just more work then im going to ask him to do

Here's the tip:
use the real thing or Square Z-28 tips, the smaller inner pipe on the one above looks cheap.

Im pretty sure your mufflers and tips wont go that high because they will hit the gas tank. Maybe Im wrong, but its possible it wont happen

thats a problem..........hitting the gas tank however it could be solved with some good exhaust work and a couple extremne bends. like someone said before its been done and i think it looks awesome.........you might have to sacrafice a little performance due to the severe bends tho.

is it just me or did he say borla exhaust tips are cheap???????
Borla makes the best performing **** out right now. They havea 1 million mile warentee, do any of your other tips have that kinda warentee. They are made out of true stainless stell, they will never rust/oxidize. Now think again and say borla is cheap.

actually....he said Borla LOOKS cheap, slow down.
and thats his personal opinion. My buddy has Borla on his 94 Formula and I dont really like them for looks or sound. The B&B Tri-Flo looks the best and sounds awesome, my bro has dual 3" stainless Tri-Flo on his corvette...its great

look this stuff up, borla exhaust system, including tips, are rating the highest outta any other. The tips posted above are intercooled, and they tone out the loud noise to make the exhaust sound purly tuff, not like over reving it. They are very very good systems.

I dont need to look it up. Im very aware of the performance Borla is capable of. All i was saying is that guy thinks it looks cheap. Its not the best thign in the world to some people....I prefer B&B. i dont care what the internet or their website or a warranty says. i know people who've had both and I have a preference and so does that other guy

well, if ya cant beat, then join em.
I love the look and sophistacation of those tips. They look.... well.... modern i guess. ANd they only look like that to make the tone sound better, borla is all about performance.
BUt if you dont like them, then thats cool.

I personally like either 3 inch chrome round exhaust, or the newer style Corvetter oval, or the square Z-28, personally as far as looks go, I think thats the way to go.
Ohhhhh, and I saw a car at the store the other day that reminded my of this thread. It was some form or r!ce, and they had cut their bumper cover to recess the exhaust a little. He even thought to use a metal surround to protect the bumper cover. Bad thing was, it was a crappy looking exhaust, and the metal surround was sticking out past the cover by around 3 inches. Everything was rusty and just plain looked crappy.
So make sure you pick up some good stainless for that surround, cut it exact, and take your time, i'm confident that with whichever tip you pick, it will look hella cool.

ok ok, their not exactly tips but still. They're the Tail Pipes of my Edebrok Cat Back System. Edelbrok makes good stuff too guys, the tone is absolutely awesome if you'd like to check into that, i have a video somewhere of the exhaust, let me find it.
