Who's Project Car is Not Moving Yet?

I bought mine about 6 months ago with the intention of having it back on the road a couple weeks later, with the small reenlistment bonus i got, but after my sons birthday and paying some bills, i am scrounging for money to finish paying off the machine work. Not to mention all the little things i have to buy!
raidator, battery, lifters, pushrods, and all the sensors!
So lets see all those project cars!

I am so winning this game, I don't even have a car yet, so technically mine isn't moving either But when I do get one, I will be sure to post its rusted skeleton.

Mine is capable of moving. It would just look funny driving it with no bumper covers and ground effects.

Started disassembling mine last spring. The car currently sits on jackstands in the garage, 85% disassembled awaiting the purchase of the rest of the parts I need. Despite my lack of physical progress......I have managed to acquire some SWEET parts (just look in my sig). Once I get a few other key items I'm going to start getting busy constructing.
I should have it driveable in a few years!

Car: Trans Am GTA
Engine: 305
Transmission: Rebuilt 700r4 with stage 3
i bought my gta a little over a year ago... .. I took my daily driver on a long trip (VW Golf) and on the way back the trans died, meanwhile my friend was borrowing my GTA because the tranny in his 84'bird died.. he called me later the same day and told me the tranny died in the GTA..... So after i got towed 200 miles!! I jumped in the wifes car (99 Sentra) and totaled that the next day on the way to pick her up at work..... Needless to say all my cars are project cars But i did just buy a Rebulit 700r4 Black Maxx tranny for the GTA It has been since October since i have had a car but soon enough...

Poverty has overtaken Me !!! But i shall PREVAIL

My car has seen the road for a total of 3 weeks since the summer of 2002. And keep in mind those were not very good weeks either. What started off as a suspension, traction, and tc upgrade in the fall of 2002 has turned into a total engine rebuild into a 383 stroker. But I have had more than one headache between then and now! Luck has not been on my side. But I am now a few short weeks away from having her completed. And I am really really looking forward to having my car back!

This is how close I was to having her completed last summer when I decided to change the oil. There was more gas than oil!! I'm not gonna get into the long story of why there was so much gas in her. So it was decided I should rebuild, and the storker project started.

Out comes the motor a little over a month ago.

And here she sits waiting for a new heart!

My pile has been sitting in my parents driveway since abuot November of 2002. When I got it running again around Feb or March 2003 (needed a new fuel pump, and I installed a lot of other goodies at the same time), I drove it for a few weeks, maybe a month or 2, and then decided it was time to get my new motor in (which I thought was just about complete....) Well, its been sitting since a little after March 2003 with little to no movement. Its been to the gas station a couple times, just recently, but now the transmission doest work, so essentially, its not moving till I get a new one.....

I bought mine in Feb '03 with the intention to drive her while I saved up some money. I did drive her for a bit during the summer, but to call my car reliable would be the exagerration of the century. The last time I took her out was early November.

We got an engine about 2 weeks ago and the swap in currently in progress. New problems keep popping up everytime we turn around, but I hope to have her back on the road by early April if all goes as planned. Then back to saving money for the cosmetics - new interior, paint and rims.

These are all before we pulled the old engine out. Once the new is in, I'll take some after pictures.

My hubby cleaning out what appeared to be 10 years worth of pine needles.

The old engine, which now resides on the floor of my garage.

Just bought mine a couple of weeks ago from the classifieds here (thanks, Bill). Car has antifreeze in the oil. Right now, I need to analyze the engine and see what I need to get it running. I hope to have it running within a couple of months.

Mine should be running this week, 7 months later. Then I'll break it again and it'll sit till I graduate in a year. What a positive outlook.

once im done there then its new tire time and time for test drives to check al suspension and brakes sterring n junk.
so go to get n recover sails, sunvisors and headliner board.
get new tires.
paint, wet sand buff that to make it look good,
finish wiring my system up,
fix the wipers hopin new motor does it,
change oil antifreeze trans gear oil and rear end grease,
might just top off the trans n rear anti freze was topped of in the winter when i got her, gotta do oil change tho cold morning i hear the lifters peckin.
due to the dumb previous owners n runnin the guts out of her its no wonder.

whast been done since i got it was all body work done n primered many times over lmao hood mods which is easily seen in my sig lol, got the heater wired up n workin done away w/ ac compressor n lines n junk got the motor runnin, was vapor locked and had change plugs gotta change wires stil and a new trans mount. done alot to the interior u want to check out way it was before and way it is now and see the work drop by my cardomain n check it out its in my sig.
installed my cd player 2nd one and custom box for my 2 10's and amp rack. gosh so many thgins ive done i forgot em all so many i got to do still i forget n get discouraged when i remmber most of em lol.

forgot to mention on one final note i bought the car in nov. of 2003 didnt start work on it til dec and what u see on my cardomain site is whast been done in about 3 months which would have been more if not for cold weather.

Just a thought, a buddy of mine called me the other day and said he knew where he could get 2 Camaros for $300, and one had a tpi motor and bad trans. the other had tbi motor and good trans. The Tpi car is a 87 Z-28 and the 89 is a RS both hard tops. The interior was gone on the 87 but the 89 had most of its left!
The point is i would love to buy both but not having a yard and living in Navy Housing not to mention i am broke i just sit and wish.
Couldn't find any parts when i had the money but now i am broke they practaically fall in my lap!

That's nothing. The last time my Firebird was on the street (legally anyway- tagged and insured) was August of 1995. That's 103 months if my math is correct.

I should really just send it to a body shop because I'm never going to finish it myself. I could drive it as-is, but I'm in a weird situation. If I insure it with "full coverage" they'd probably give me $1500 (if I'm lucky) if it ever gets stolen or totalled- because it's just an '83 Firebird with a V6 VIN tag. My insurance guy said that I can get "stated value" coverage (where I can insure it for what I have invested in it), but the car has to be "restored" and they have to take pictures of it in excellent condition. So I'm boned until I paint it and put the interior back in it.

Well Trigger, you got me beat but not by too much. I honestly never thought I'd have a car stripped down this much... but now I do. I'll also be changing rear axles on this thing. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!! My goal is to fill this....

with this! It's a 350 TPI and also has a posi disc 9 bolt rear. I still haven't opened it up to see what the gear ratio is. The engine compartment is also being painted silver before swapping in the 350. Eventually the whole car will be silver... but money dictates doing only under the hood for now.

Here's a pic of the whole car. Someone give me feedback on my project! I never made my own thread to introduce myself and tell everyone what I'm doing.

Thats a very nice 82-84 T/A man. I wish my 83 was that nice (and optioned). If it was I might keep it instead of using it as a parts car

I had a grand plan of 3 years to strip and rebuild. That was 2 year ago.
I have had a serious stomach disease that put me in/out of the hospital, the wife went back to work, 2 kids, travel for job and endless maintenance around the house. The car is last on the to do list.
Hope to get at it again this summer.

Finally got a couple pics of my non-moving project. First pic is my uninhabited engine bay.

Well hopefully mine wont end up as a long term project, but if I keep on adding things to do, then it will probably will be. I've only had the car for about a month, but the last time it was registered was in 99. So its been a multiple owner long term project. Luckily I have the main ingredients of the project, Motor, Tranny, Wiring, etc...

Hopefully I'll get the engine bay painted this week, and hopefully the motor mounts and tranny crossmember will arrive sometime this month. After I get it running, then it'll be time to hunt down a whole new interior.

Nothing like a stripped 3rd gen with tools laying all over it.

I think there were too many "hopefully's" in that last post. I dont think thats a good sign.

I think this pic. explains it all. Looks like someone gave her a good right hook. The rear is ready to come out, and theres the new heart off to the right.

I'll be getting a new torque arm since the one on mine's bushings that connect to the transmission is wore out. Also needs driver's side fender, door, and rear quarter panel replaced due to the previous owner hitting some railroad ties sideways.

Car: too many ...
My track project has been sitting for the longest time. We stripped it all out and got ready to weld in a rollcage about 8 months ago. We also painted the engine bay and got it ready for the new motor. Then the welder broke, and it just sat. I was supposed to buy a new welder, and some parts for the new motor, but I ran out of funds (they went to other projects). Earlier this week I ordered the carb, intake manifold, headers, and some other stuff for the new motor (Converting 89 L98 to Carb). So hopefully by the end of next week we'll install everything and get the motor in the car. Hoping to get this project going again!

Car: '91 Firebird
Well, I got my beater running this afternoon, so my Firebird is parked as of today. Yay, finally!

First project: Drop the transmission and put in the 5 speed!

I'll probably do that sometime next week.

Then, strip interior, put in subframe connectors, soundproofing, 4th gen dash, mp3 machine and the black interior.

Body wise, I've got a new hatch w/ defrost (yes i need it), Z hi rise wing, new fenders, vision ground effects, door pins, and then a fresh coat of paint! I still cannot make up my mind on color yet... black, red or yellow probably. May or may not get a new hood... i wanna see how the firebird one looks with the gfx on and decide from there.

I've been accumulating these parts for over a year now, and its finally time to start installing them. :lala: :lala: :lala:
