Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

ALL 91/92 Birds had the same nose & wing. The Firehawk package only changed the wheels and drivetrain.

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

I noticed the inner panels were the same, I wondered of the exteriors were 4th gen as well.

I wonder how well the 3rd gen pieces fit the 4th gen stuff...Or how hard it was to fit the 3rd gen fenders and nose, on the 4th gen inner structure.

Thank you very much

I happen to love my girlfriend's '87 IROC. You'll never see another 3rd gen with this EXACT same paint color, because she chose it herself and it's from a 2008 model year vehicle.

Many GORGEOUS cars in this thread! Props to everyone who has worked long and hard to make their cars something to be proud of!

I started with this almost exactly 1 year ago (after losing my '84 T/A to a failed Russell brake hose):

Here's how she looks today:

Keep up the awesome work everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

I hate your car Quadgoat.... You've got my hood & spoiler! Too bad your car isn't a 85-90 and white. Even if it wasn't white, I'd Photochop it to white, to "see" my cars future.

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

honestly most of these cars look stock with a shiny paint job and some rims.
the flames are different but not a fav of mine on 3rd gens.

I like the wheels sticking out on the sides mine do a bit and it looks so aggressive

have you guy ever let someone drive your car around the block so you could see it in action for yourself? It's quite a treat if your proud of your car

True, but the way I see it is having a clean and mostly stock looking 3rd gen is something to be proud of, considering how many of these cars have been trashed. I'm also a believer that a stock 3rd gen is a piece of art anyways. There are some gorgeous cars on here that are stock and some other gorgeous ones that are totally redone.

Yea I've let my girlfriend drive my convertible so I could see it driving and hear it. It's much louder when you're behind it! I also like driving past Blockbuster stores and other places with tall windows so I can see myself driving, and see the ZR1's rolling. I love the way they look when they're moving.

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

Exactly, the thirdgens are so great looking from the factory (for the most part) that extreme body mods just aren't necessary. A tasteful choice of hood, wheels, gfx package and spoiler can make one stand out a litte more than the rest but, in my opinion anyway, it's what's on the INSIDE that really counts

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

Yep...'77 Z28. It has a 388 SBC, AFR 210 Eliminator heads, comp solid roller valvetrain, Victor Jr., Holley 750 and a Procharger D1SC on the way. TH350 tranny, 4000 stall, 12 bolt rear end with 3.73 gears. Car ran low 11's on motor. I sold the Dart Pro 1 heads off of it to get some AFR's with a larger chamber to lower my compression for the Procharger. Hoping for a high 9 on pump gas when its all said and done. Have future plans for a 6-speed swap once I get that 9 second pass. The car is an original 4-speed car, so converting it back to a stick would be pretty cool.

Share some details on that exhaust! I love side exits, I just can't decide how I want mine.

Is that really true duals, and dual mufflers, or dual tips on the stock single pipe?

It's true duals. Driver's is run under the oil pan...just like factory, then turns and runs parallel with the passenger side. They are connected with a small H-pipe and they have Moroso spiral mufflers...one on each side. Out of the spiral mufflers and turned in front of the wheels. It is true 3" duals. We even ovaled the pipe for better ground clearance and a nicer appearance. The floorboard needed a little modifying with a large hammer...

Fatal88's car is insane, having seen it in person many times, I can attest to that car's complete awesomeness. The owner's (Tim and Teri) are a couple of pretty cool people too. I wonder if they will be at our gathering this week?

Sweetness! Don't suppose you've got any pictures? How do you keep your gfx from melting from the heat of the mufflers?

That's not drifting. That's autocrossing. Something that actually has relevance to whether or not a car and driver is fast. And to me, that kicks it up a few notches since going fast is looking good.

Cmon guys, I know you all can do better than a bunch of bling'ed out wheels, APC Hoods, and huge F40 spoilers. I have to wonder about the positive camber and lift kits I have seen on a few of these.

To the cars with the road racing look, much respect. That players series car is awesome.

What would look really good is a thirdgen sitting on some black powdercoated ccw classics http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelpr...php?id=classic
on R compound rubber, gutted interior, sparco seats, schroth harnesses, small lip spoiler or functional adjustable lip and chin spoilers.. no fog lights, cage.. absolutely no chrome, polished accessories to a minimum, huge brakes... mmm.. yeah

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

I remember seeing Fatal88's car featured in Super Chevy magazine many years ago before the fourth gen engine bay, LS engine, and fourth gen interior were in the car and it kicked *** even then with its chromed-out TPI and custom interior and leather seats from a Beretta(?) IIRC... I've got to find that back issue of Super Chevy...

Thanks, yes that is me autocrossing at the Toledo Airport. And I must say that with my 383, and street tires, it is sometimes more drifting that Autox but its a blast. I have slicks ready for next year so it will be time to get serious. I'm suprised no one commented on my fat hoss 17x11s in the back

Nice car, didn't notice the rears were so wide. I like how you kept it clean, lip spoiler, stock hood. Wish I had a thirdgen to autoX and take to the twisties myself. The ~500 rwhp I have now is fun but turning and stopping is fun too. Maybe Ill pick another thirdgen up in a little while

All you need to top her off is some taillight covers. You can get them from summit for about $100.00

Re: Purdiest 3rdGen I've ever seen!

I like Quadgoats car - nice and clean.

Oh, and thank you for spurring me on to spend more money I don't have fixing up my car. Thanks a lot. Oh well, the wife and kids will have to cut back on their spending.

Thanks guys, compliments very much appreciated!!

Oh, and goalieforlife, those door panels are on Fatal88's car, I believe he custom made them, based off 4th gen panels.

I have no idea, someone else may know though. I always assumed he made them himself, but I would think most any good upholstery shop could do it...

There's a whole lotta 'right click save as' going on in this thread.

Here's my humble offerings... It makes me get a sh** eating grin everytime I look at it in the garage. Still need to get tires mounted on my matching blue GTA crosslace wheels.

more pics of the transformation...
