I'd would paint it black The only draw back is black cars show more dirt I'd tint the windows and polish up your rims as well. You'll have one bad azz car when you finish

You can't go wrong with black. But if you go black, make sure you get any and all dents and other imperfections taken care of before spraying- black shows ALL.

ive come up with an idea instead of ghost flames (i need help with choice of color on this ) over the front of the car put a spider web in ?color? then have a black widow airbrushed right in the middle of the hood right in front of the small scoop i have on there, i think ill call it PROJECT: BLACK WIDOW , i dont know just an idea what do you all think? p.s. ironic thing is i was bitten in january of 2002 by a spider and almost died.

if it were me, id definately go black with some light tints.

id look in the junkyards to see if you could find a 91-92 formula front bumper cover... i think they look so much meaner than the stock 80's bumper covers. im not sure of whats involved with the swap, like if lights and such fit right, but i know people have done it so its possible.

and for wheels... im not the kind of person who likes big wheels on a thirdgen, i think the 16" formula wheels on a firebird look godly compared to most of the 17s out there

good luck!

edit.. basically like this car, in black

Unless you're going to gut the car before painting it's tough to change from the original color. Remember that painting inside the door jambs and interior are an additional cost. It's not too bad that the car is black to begin with because the engine bay will look fine in black no matter what color you go with. I just had the Roc repainted and I'm pretty glad the guy talked me into staying with the original color. It saved some money and I never realized that the original color was that nice (before it dulled and scratched).

As for ideas - do what you want!!!! Don't listen to "stock or you ruined it" attitude some people around these parts preach. They don't own, pay for or ride in your car. You have to be happy with it and not worry about pleasing everyone else. I know there's a bunch of people on this board who stand what I did to mine. Take a look:

https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/rideimages/ACFH1qBdh.jpg

No Iroc stickers, no door moulding, different color pillar (black), not the stock Roc hood (RS) and had stripes painted on - but only the hood and not the roof or tail. It was my money. Had someone else wanted to pay for it I would have done whatever they wanted.

Make sure you're happy. It's your loot!!!

Black widow Idea

To me this sounds like a great idea. (The black widow) Custom airbrush is my thing and I love coming up with new ideas.

What I would do is mask out your flames (maybe even a dual flame job, see pic of motorcycle tank), then I would have the spider web inside the flames only. Then on the hood have your spider protruding through the flames as if it is coming through the hood lunging at you. The spider has to be really detailed and I would have these glowing, errie eyes that seem to follow you as you walk around the car. The spider is what will make the car. The more detail and errie feel of the spider the better. As for the web I would have it where it is full color towards the front of the car and fade out as you go towards the back.

The colors that I would use is a deep black metallic (viper black is a good color) for the overall car color. Make sure that your body work is perfect or you will see everything.

As for the flames color, go with your favorite color, I would use a nice blue or silver. I would use a lite color though. One reason is that it'll stand out better and you can have the drop shadows from the spider which gives the overall paint scheme depth.

As for the spider I would use a NON-metallic black paint. (Spiders are not made of metal) plus the areas where the spider is on the metalic black it will stand out. A brown and a white with either green or red eyes.

Then once you are done painting the entire car, spider and all. I would mix in some pearl into the clear coat. I would use the same color that you use for the spiders eyes. This will tie the entire paint job together and give your black alittle bit of color when the light shine on it.

If I get some free time I will draw this concept out for you if you want me to. My advice to you is; if you want stock you will just look like everyone else on the road, but if you want to stand out and have people turn their heads go custom.

Plus it all depends on how deep your pocket book is. The black widow idea that I just told you I would charge around 5,000 to 7,500. So be perpared to pay some money for this type of paint job. But it would be worth it!

thank you tribal

i appreciate the reply i really do, actually i am trying to do all the paint myself except for airbrushing the spider i suck at drawing detailed stuff. i have a pretty good idea as faras the WEB goes just gonna have to test it out on old hood just as a test. i really wanna do something that will set it apart from everyone else although mine is a notchback replica (i bought it that way for only a 1000 greenbacks) except i have a different type spoiler on it not stock looking one but anyway just thought i would try something different myself cause i cant afford for someone else to paint it (wife and 2 kids lol ) so ill try it and see how it goes plus my father in law worked at a body shop for a long time so he will be able to help me if i need it.
