How do front blackouts mount?

I just sent out my MO to a guy who is selling them to me... 20 bucks shipped without the mounting kit...

How do they mount from the factory? Is there a way to replecate this, or will I have to rig something... what's a good way to keep them from falling off?

They (GTS blackouts)come with a plastic piece(4 total) that has a slotted grove for the blackout to fit in. This plastic piece has a double faced tape that attaches to the light pocket on each side. Clean the surface and place the piece in place. Let it adhere for 24 to 48 hours without the blackouts in. than install the blackouts. There are some screws that come with the kit also. You drill a hole smaller than the screw thru the blackout and the plastic grove piece. BE CAREFUL because you can crack the blackouts or the plastic piece if the hole is too big or you go to fast. Once the hole is made you can put the scew in and the blackout are secure. some people also drill a hole in the light pocket but I did not see this to be necessary as the two sided tape is working fine.

Now with all that said and since you don't have a kit you can fabricate a small piece of plastic, attach it to the body with double face tape, then screw the blackouts into the plastic piece. Since the blackouts are smaller than the light pockets it will be hard to attach them to the body directly without some type of fabrication like this.

BTW: I love my blackouts on my black car. Whata look. Some told me I wouldn't like them but they were wrong.

Sorry, No pics yet.

Yeah what he said!! hahaha. But from the box they mount from the sides. when i had mine on, one of them flew off @ 115mph. I think since you have to custom mount them anyway, try to rig something from the bottom as well as the sides. Mounting from the sides only allows air to get under it and might pop it out (like mine did).

I think I'll try some 3M velcro... but that has a hard enough time holding my tach in the summer time... I'd need something else...

I see this being a PITA...

Anyone have a mounting kit they didn't use?

"CrazyH", you were probably "drifting" when yours flew off.

Not a bad idea about mounting from the bottom or trying to find someone with unused hardware.

Velcro will just **** you off and someone will steal them.
find a way to screw them in.

A 115mph Drift would honestly scare me. I was freeway racing against a Mustang.

Well then it was probably worth it to beat a Mustang.
