Sniper, Pro FLO EFI, Fast EZ-EFI?

Hi! Just bought project Camaro RS -89 305TBI + T5 and need some advice. I'm Looking for easy and cost effective way to get the car running.

Now Engine has:
305 block
Trick Flow Super 23 175 heads with -87-95 intake bolt pattern
Comp cams XR270HR camshaft
ported GM TPI intake with 26lb/hr injectors, bigger runners, 52 throttle body
Hedman long tube hedders

Now it needs distributor and proper efi control unit. The interest of the previous owner ceased at this point. I have been searching solutions and these have been mentioned

Edelbrock Pro-Flo Efi XT or traditional 4150 :
Pros:
Simple system and includes everything

Cons:
There isn't version that fits my heads but could it be modified?
There's better availability for 4150 version will it fit under stock hood?
Expensive

Fast EZ-EFI multi port retro kit
pros:
Cheap

cons:
maybe harder to get running right because there might be something missing from TPI system and there's no ignition control

Holley Sniper EFI
pros:
simple system

cons:
not true 8-point injection
have to buy intake manifold and distributor that raises the price

CARB conversion
pros:
cheap

cons:
not easy to get running right
not running so smooth at every temp
local smog inspection may be more difficult to pass

Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: Sniper, Pro FLO EFI, Fast EZ-EFI?

What are your plans for this car? The 305 is a turd. Yes doing a ls swap would be idea but a lot of work and money. Stepping up to a 350 would be cheap and easy. I highly recommend.

Now as far as efi systems I just did a ton of research and went with the proflo 4. I had a 750 carb on there and it was pretty damn good but was hard to fine tune and I know it had more. The proflo has given me that. The wide open throttle is the same but my torque curve is much better, much more streetable. The Holley sniper systems and ones like it are just electric carbs. Spend the money and get a real efi system.

You can bring your heads in and have them drilled for pre-86 intakes. You'll also need a in tank fuel pump that can do 60psi, and regulator with return and vac reference. When it’s all said and done your looking at spending around $2,200-$2,500 to get the proflo 4 up and running.

If your gonna stick with the 305 I’d just figure out how to get your current stock efi system working.

I agree, the cost effective thing to do would be to fix the TBI.

I'm a carb guy, but my brother-in-law used the FI Tech unit on his build and its been super reliable.

Re: Sniper, Pro FLO EFI, Fast EZ-EFI?

when i was making this same choice i priced out the holley sniper with distributor and coil. i compared that to the pro flo 4 and the prices are very similar. they might even be the same for the smaller injector version of the pro flo. i got the 42 lb version and it was only 300ish more than the holley system. recently got done with the install and i can tell you, it is great! there are some areas that need work but time will fix that. even with the issues, it is already running better than the carb i had on it. so, my vote is pro flo. the extra money is worth the ease of tuning and the true multiport injection.

I would get a factory distributor and tunable ECU for TPI you already have the system

The last thing I would do is go carbed

Re: Sniper, Pro FLO EFI, Fast EZ-EFI?

A little late to the thread but I ran the FAST ez EFI and loved it even tho the ez system I had ran a standard narrow cap divorced coil distributor. Ran excellent.

The ez 2.0 has spark control and has a matching dual sync distributor (305005) available.
