Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 users?

Who all here has or had a pro flo 4 EFI system? I am talking about the 4150 version, not the XT. I am waiting for mine to ship. Going on a SBC 350. What did you like about it and what did you hate? I picked this system over the holley sniper because when you look at total costs (holley ignition system added in) it was only about 300 more for the edelbrock. With it being MPFI, i see that as an improvement over the TBI style systems.

Re: Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 users?

I have the XT version, not the 4150 style, same thing just different intake, it’s a great system, very simple install as long as you take your time with the wiring. The integrated ignition system with timing control is amazing. My car never ran this good. The first start was easy, fires right up, set the base timing and it was ready to go after 5-10 minutes of idling.

I'm looking at the pro-flo 4 too. Hoping it fits under hood. Thought about first with aftermarket ecu but edelbrock would be simpler probably.

The 4150 version or the XT?

4150. If I had to I would put an elbow on it and run a LS throttle body to keep the stock hood. I almost want to do it that way anyway to be able to use the stock cold air intake. I need the 550 hp version,

Just went out and measured them. With an edelbrock rpm intake, .5" carb heat spacer and a demon 650carb it measured 10.25" from bottom of intake to top of air cleaner.

With the pro flo it measured an even 10" from bottom of intake to the top of air cleaner.

This is with a drop base filter base, forgot to measure amount of drop.

anytime! i am kind of hoping that i might be able to use a flat base filter instead of the drop base. take away the .5" heat spacer plus the extra .25" or so the pro flo gives me, i think it will be close.

working on installing my pro flo 4150. Where did you mount your ECM? i was wanting to put it close to where the stock one was on the passenger kick panel but it just barely doesnt reach. Trying to get different ideas now.

Re: Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 users?

I put one in my ride recently. Love it. I got it all set up for e85 cause it’s cheap, easy to find round here (mn) and works good with my higher compression. I just added fuel in advanced tuning and the self learn took it from there. So nice to be able to set your timing right from the tablet. No more popping the hood constantly and messing with springs and bushings. Mine likes 22 initial 32max and no vac advance. The edelbrock proflo forum is very informative too.

I recently finished mine also. Have not went for a drive yet, just idle and backing out of the garage. I remember seeing in the instructions that it said it was not compatible with E85 fuel. Also, why no vacuum advance for timing? Just wondering, I still need to play around with some of the features of the system. But, you are right. It is awesome doing everything without opening the hood! Are you using the edelbrock 8041 throttle bracket? I am waiting on mine to show up so until then, I am using a FAST bracket with spacers so it clears the fuel rail. This made me go to a 2" tall filter instead of the 3".

Re: Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 users?

Over on the edelbrock proflo forum their own guys say the system is not “officially” designed for e85 but is completely capable of running it. Everything (fuel injectors, rails etc) is capable of handling e85. Premium is getting expensive.

I just rigged up the bracket I had on the carb. Had to go a little customs stuff but it works.

My motors 10.8:1 compression and doesn’t like the timing to go over 28 with premium and 32 with e85. Anyone who has high comp should be careful with the proflo as the map the set up wizard picks for you starts you off with 36 total and 5 degrees of vac. So you’ll see 41 when getting on it. That’s detonation city. Don’t know if you’ve ever watch Eric the car guy on YouTube but he put this system on his 383 and cracked the pistons first drive. I believe he was only running 10:1 comp.
