Vortec style HSR

Vortec style HSR
I currently have an HSR but have an opportunity to perhaps pick up a cheap set of Fastburn heads. Would I just need to purchase the vortec-patterned lower manifold? Also I was wondering if it flows better than the standard HSR lower manifold. If I end up needing a ton of extra parts like lower manifold, fuel rails, different headers, etc. it may end up being cheaper in the long run to dish out a ton of $$ for AFRs or something.

Vortec stealth ram requires a different set of fuel rails than the standard does and as far as I know it only comes in a kit with the pleanum and base
I personally am mildly upset with being stuck with vortec heads because the options are soo limited but I'm already stuck here if I were you I would just hang out and get a set of trick flows or afrs or something

The vortec heads are the best bang for the buck. They perform very well, right out of the box. The fast burn are even better. The only thing I plan to do to my Vortec heads is increase the valve size to the LT4 specs (2.00 and 1.55) to match the LT4 hotcam. If you are using TPI then money wise, stay with a factory type head because the TPI components are so outrageously priced. It seems that since the TPI cars are becoming more popular, the manufacturers want to RAPE everyone on the prices...

They only come with 68cc chambers so I wanted them milled smaller to retain good compression. Add 105$ for the deluxe spring package along with shipping, and you end up with around 1700 complete. I am close to securing a deal on used ones now though that have already been milled.

yea you could but it wouldnt really be worth ti as you wouldnt really reap one the benefits of the fastburns which is the intake port design because they are taller than standard ports

I stuck a 1205 on my vortecs
Same height port.
Width was different of course as was the bolt pattern
I'll try and get a pic later.
But a std intake matched to a 1205 should fit fine.
And I've seen dual bolt pattern Vortec gaskets.
I think ROL makes them.
The 1205 is the same height as an LT1 intake too.
Just the width is different again.
And since the vortec was based on the LT1 head I believe....
