Hawks Third Gen

I found a LS1/T56 with 104k miles on their website and called them a couple of times to ask questions about it. They were awesome to talk to on the phone and proficiently answered my questions. A few days later I purchased the combo via PayPal.

The first business day I got a phone call from Hawks to confirm some info and to give a tentative ship date. I also had the ECM tuned before shipment. The drivetrain went out sooner than quoted and I had it in my garage in about a week.

When I opened the black shrink wrap and inventoried the components I noticed the exhaust manifolds were missing. I sent Mr Hawkins an email about it and he said they would go right out and they did. Awesome service.

Upon further inventory I have noticed the driveshaft was also omitted. I have not contacted hawks about this yet but when I do I have every reason to believe it will be promptly rectified.

One more comment about the freight company they used, they were great, the driver not only unloaded it with a lift gate but he placed it in my garage for me too. I tipped the driver for his terrific service (literally had to place it in his hand and close it, he didn't want to take it) and off he went.

TL: DR version, I'm happy with the purchase and would be comfortable spending multiple thousands with them again.

Re: Hawks Third Gen

I bought a automatic console plate from them a while back. Since my car was an ongoing project it took me about 6 months to open it. When I did I found there were fingerprints somehow made into the lens of the plate. Didn't look awful but it wasn't right either. I figured so much time had gone by they wouldn't be able to do anything for me; but I called them anyway. It was a short conversation that went something like this...... we want you to be happy and have a good product from us. Send it back and we will send you a new replacement...no questions asked.
Awesome customer service.
on a side note: I met Bruce and his crew at the f body beach bash in Myrtle Beach a few months ago.....great people.

Re: Hawks Third Gen

I've done a ton of business with Bruce and the guys, going all the way back to the early 2000's. Most transactions were great, and customer service was always awesome. Only had one issue with product and it was fixed in a timely manner. No one is perfect all the time, and you'll find threads with a people talking junk. I can't say what their experiences were, but overall, it's safe to say the overwhelmingly VAST majority of people of great things to say about Hawks.

Re: Hawks Third Gen

I really want to do my next big order from Hawks, but the prices are 30%+ more than if I went somewhere else. I need to get a repro spoiler, formula 350 graphics kit, and all the seals for doors/windows/etc before I do paint. It's just way more expensive compared elsewhere, but maybe I'll reach out prior to ordering to see if it's something they can match? I've heard nothing but good things.

I buy parts from Summit (or Jegs if that's you're flavor) because basic parts are cheap, in stock, ship quickly, and customer service is good). I buy parts from Hawk's because they have a lot of stuff that's thirdgen specific and hard to find, and because I can actually talk to someone who knows as much if not more about my car than me, and NOT because they're cheaper. To me, that's worth it, but I mean....I just spent a bunch on basic engine parts from Summit. Hawk's wasn't the place for that stuff. I DID buy a complete interior from them though, and I talked to them plenty about colors, options etc. etc., and they def know there stuff. That's worth something to me.

Re: Hawks Third Gen

Bruce, BJ, and there team at Hawks are top notch... i have done a lot of business with them and they work hard and focus on doing a great job. They really go the extra mile to find hard to get parts and work on unique needs... i even had them cut a rust free clean camaro in half for me and ship it up for my first car rebuild that my son and i found in a salvage yard... they are the top
