Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

So everyone knows what type of scumbag Bruce really is... yea I used to think he was a great guy too! But recently I had a done deal on a car I had before and locked up the deal until Bruce stuck his nose in few times and made the seller switch his mind and sell it to him! This guy has enough cars and couldn't let one poor guy get one car which he had a history with! Total scumbag and hope all you car guys know how low he went to steal a car from someone after I had a done deal. Hope it happens to him one day on a car he really wants to see how it feels.

I'm assuming he swooped in and offered more for the car than you did?

What about the scumbag seller who backed out of the 'done deal' with you?

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Bottom line was it was a done deal until Bruce called the seller twice after he was told it was sold to make the seller change how mind. John the seller was low class too as he pleaded for me last year and this year that he had my word! But I know a lot of people will stick up for this turd but truth be told!

I'm really pissed off but you know if that's the way he buys his rare cars by manipulating people and saying b.s. then whatever! Just know Ill never recommend this douchebag to anyone again!

Just playing devils advocate.

I know very little of the situation, and very little details given here.

But, if the seller had made a deal with you, and he backed out, he should have just as much blame as the guy he sold it to.

That said, I have never had any dealings with Hawks. Have never met Bruce or anyone else from there.

This sucks! Care to elaborate on the car that was swooped from ya? This was a one you had owned once before and wanted to buy it back? Unfortunately money is a great manipulator for people. Very sorry to hear though.

Being another devils advocate:

Unless the cash has changed hands, the car is in your driveway with the title in your name, it is never a done deal.

I travelled to Maui from Oahu once to look at a very nice 64 El Camino that I wanted... we had agreed to a price so I made arrangements for travel, and to pick up the car and get it back to Oahu. (Either by ferry, barge, or plane at the time.)

When I got there, I went for a test drive in it, said OK, lets drive down to the bank, and the guy tells me he has another potential buyer coming from Oahu to look at it... He sold the car to the other guy for MORE that the asking price... only problem was I was out the $300 in travel and lodging it cost me to get there.

Had I known this guy was going to pull this stunt I would never have wasted the trip...

But such is life...

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Here are Andy's emails to me....

I'm still very pissed.... the way I was to you and so kind and then get screwed by that ******* Bruce sticking his nose in my deal. I will go out of my way to let all his customers know what type of turd he is and how he stole my car! Like you said you had my word and I took yours! Totall screwed me over!

Also...

I am very ticked off as I was very generous and polite to you last year and kept my word. We had a verbal agreement and I was first to contact you but needed time to get a shipper, get a rental and look for the rims I wanted. And then you changed your time frame completely a day later after talking to that jackass and whatever he said. I was serious and he too wasnt going nowhere as he has always been car flipper over the years! That ****er is going to pay and I will let everyone who thinks he is such a nice guy know what type of ****er he is stealing my car! Hope it wrecks on the way to him!

If you really are a man of your word you would honor our deal like a man and cancel that jackass's stealing of my car and refund him and said you had a deal and are a man if your word! I will send you the money today and come get it. But if not I dont know how a car guy can sleep after going back on your word. Maybe one day you will want something bad you and that seller will.do the same and see how it feels. Bruce better nice the car as if I find it revenge will be done!

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Here is my email to him

Ok lets just start off when I bought this car from you last year. I can see now why it took you so long to sell this car and I was the jackass to agree to your terms. I agreed to pay top dollar for this car that had issues starting, headlight motors didnt work, alarm was ****ed up, chocolate stains in the interior, and you love this car?? The wheels that you loved so much stuck out way past the quarters and were chipping the paint each and every time you drove it. That and they were in need of refinishing I felt no need to leave them on the car. You took my money so technically it was my car at that point but you continued to drive my car anyway and search for your new car. Did you use my money to buy your new car? Now I can see why the car was for sale for all those months and the responses on thirdgens from potential buyers. Now present day, I take this car off of ebay because you want it back. Then you email me that you dont want it because it doesnt have the wheels you like. Then you call me and ask if I can hold the car for two weeks to see "if" you can find wheels for it and "if" you do you will buy the car back. If not then you made it seem as if you didnt find these wheels you did not want to buy the car. That is an unreasonable request.. It took me time to think about this just like you changed your mind after you had me take down the auction. I broke the rules of ebay to sell the car to the last owner and then you pull this on me. You are going to question me about my my manhood and being a car guy when your decision whether to buy the car you love so much back depended on if you could find wheels for it. You made it sound like I put yugo hubcaps on it that it was too hideous to drive. If I I wanted a car back as much as you claim to want this back wheels would be the last of my concern and after all this said I didnt find you serious as a buyer, How did you expect me to take you seriously?

Bruce in no way forced me to sell this car to him. I was in constant contact with him during our conversations and he was fine with the car going back to you. His actual words were" Im glad Andy is getting the car back". I will be forwarding your messages to him and if for some reason the sale with him falls through, I will be relisting the car and it will see the auction through. I cant see how you could really care about this car as much as you say you do when "you hope it wrecks on the way to him" and if you find him " revenge will be done" You are acting like a child. If I cant have it, no one can. You lost the sale of the car, no one else had any influence on you not getting the car. It was your indecisiveness and flip flop emails and text messages expressing your "yes I want it" and " just let it go". For those reasons. I offered the car to bruce. I OFFERED IT to him. There was no forcing or him being a snake. My goal here was to sell the car. I am very fond of the car and didnt really want to sell it in the first place.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Bottom line is money talks. Ive had times where I have agreed on price and guy says"let me go to bank be back in an hour". In the mean time I'm turning people away. Only to have original guy come back and try and renegotiate deal, or not buy at all. Learned long ago deals not done until cash is in hand.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

I don't think I'm quite following what happened, however money doesn't always talk... here included. There are scumbags here who sell stuff and even when paid they sell it on to some other slimey a-hole who offers more money (although the amount paid was asking price + shipping) and then without notice refund the money with paypal so one ends up being pissed off, cheated out of his PROPERTY!! (paid = owned!!!) and money stuck in a F-in paypal account with a sh!tty conversion rate and losses from conversion fees!

That's how some people roll... people like that, I wouldn't **** on if they were on fire.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Wow. It's hard to trust anyone these days.

From what I gathered,

guy a sells car to guy b
guy a says if you ever sell it give me first dibs.

Sometime later guy b puts car on eBay
guy a says he wants it
guy b takes it off eBay
guy a says, well maybe not since you changed wheels, I'll see if I can find some
In the meantime other people inquire about car, but guy b says not yet.
Guy a flip flops and has yet to present money.

Guy c comes along with cash and guy b says ok.

Now guy a is mad and procceds to bash guy b and c.

But this is just my guess based on what has been presented.

What I have learned is if you can't get there right away, you better figure out a way to send at least a deposit, otherwise, first one that presents cash gets the item.

There are three sides to every story, yours, theirs and the truth. Bottomline - sounds like the deal is over, good, bad or ugly.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

I would have sold it "out from under you" too... Once you make a verbal agreement, that's the agreement. Sounds like you tried to change it one too many times.

It all depends on who you're dealing with though.

Selling a car on craigslist? No way I'm gonna make any verbal agreement. I've had people say "I'm on my way now, I'll be there in 20 min" and never show up. Now when somebody says they'll be there at a certain time, all I say is that I'll call them if I sell it before they get here.

I got VERY lucky with my truck though. The owners waited a month for me to make the 1000 mile trip to pick it up, without even a deposit paid in on my part. Sadly its incredibly rare to run into people like this in your business dealings...

I dont think its fair to call Bruce out as a scumbag if you wanted a car and didnt show up first with cash and I bought it does that mean im a scumbag

its buisness and you snooze you loose if you wanted it so bad you would have gotten it and if the guy was to hold it for you and didnt then he is the scumbag

I dont see anywhere where Bruce said to you directly "ha ha ha ill buy everything you want so you cant have anything" (and the ha ha ha was in a evil tone)

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Johnny Blaze pretty much summed it up, except for the part about making an agreement to sell the car back if I ever decided I didnt want it any longer. Andy just happend to see the car for sale on ebay. It was not about money at all. The car was sold to Bruce for the same price I agreed to sell it to Andy for. It was the flip flop of "I want it" , "No I dont want it" , " Well If I can find the wheels I had on it, then I would want to buy it" As of Thursday night, I got the second" I dont want it" in a text this time. The minute I recieved that message, I offered the car to Bruce. Made a verbal agreement over the phone, just as I did with Andy. Being a man of my word, Im keeping my word and sold it to Bruce. No deposit, not more money, not pressured. The car is his and is as good as in his garage. This is pretty childish to even be doing this on a forum. I just felt the need to post the truth because I knew Andy would be on here bashing Bruce and myself, when previously stated it was his indecisiveness that lost him the car. Nothing else.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

I thought about this a little more. What does Hawk's have to do with this deal? Bruce bought a car, if he owns Hawk's or not should not EVEN be a factor of this topic nor any other topic that is associated with Hawk's. I am not loyal to Hawk's by any stretch of the imagination BUT truly this has NOTHING to do with his business name. For all you know Bruce bought this car to donate to charity.
You were still in negotiations for this car. Someone else came in with a more solid deal. The defintion of a hero is slight.... It is all a matter of taking action or courage, when action is needed. Bruce was the hero on this deal.

If you really wanted it back you should have jumped at the chance to get it back. You could have found a set of Ronals eventually. It's kind of unfair to accuse Bruce of wrongdoing. I don't think the seller did anything wrong either.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

When you deal, at least put a deposit down. Get something in writing that says it's a deposit for the car and agree to come up with the rest at a mutually set date. With no cash in hand, it's just empty promises.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

1991Formula350, you are the scumbag here. You texted John Lukasik "I don't want it".

And then you slam this Bruce guy on a deal that's totally above board. I assume "Hawk's" is a sponsor of TGO, so you had better apologize on this forum. It's understandable that we sometimes get emotional about cars, but you made the mistake here. It's not cool to publicly mess with someone's business.

Looks like Andy has vacated this thread. And by posting this nonsense in here, I'm sure he's sealed the deal that no one on here is going to buy anything from him in the future. He's only thrown cold water on himself at this point.

Did you ever read his original thread when he originally was selling his car? I wouldn't have bought anything from him even before this thread.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Here is my take on the whole thing:

If a person says "I want it", then I will work with you, and help you out. The second "I dont want it" comes up, all bets are off. Flip floping dont work out because you are then a "flake" and, me personally, will not sacrifice a deal for a flake.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

Wow this is a good one, killed some time at work for me so thanks LOL! Here's the thing, if I want something and have the money I buy it, if I'm unsure I just leave it alone till I know for sure. I think the OP was in the wrong here and the other 2 guys were just fine and getting a deal done. Maybe the saying "no tire kickers" fits here well.

I think Bruce owns Hawks. But I don't think he did anything wrong. He bought a car. Snooze you loose.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

I can't believe I read most of this thread; it sucked me in.

Sounds like the OP is indecisive, immature, and out of touch. Also sounds like Bruce doesn't deserve the wrap given to him by this guy.

My two cents. OUT.

Re: Dirty tactics by Bruce at Hawks!!!

i buy and sell many ls parts on forums and ebay.
i dont hold parts or take deposits on anything. dont honor dibs.
pay up or move along, simple as that. i expect same from other sellers.
i sold a ls2 engine saturday. had been texting with a guy that wanted it. but wouldnt make time to get it. another guy texted and got it the same day. original guy was upset. but he obviously didnt want it that bad or he would come got it. i offered to deliver it for a fee. didnt want to pay. oportunity was there.
on a forum, a guy was sellin a complete f1 procharger. i wanted it, be he found a local buyer and didnt have to ship to me and got more fir it. i understand. i see nothing wrong here. i woulda done same thing. pay now or move along. simple as that
