summit transmission mount
Due to my transmission mount being destroyed, I thought I would upgrade instead of going OEM. I ordered this transmission mount http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTP-7-1604/. For some reason I can not get the bolt hole to line up properly, even with the mount being adjustable. Did I get a bad mount, or do they not line up right? Here is a pic of how it looked after it was mounted, and a pic of how trashed my last mount was.

Re: summit transmission mount
sometimes things get a little tweaked, but you should be able to get a prybar and shift the trans over a little to line up

Re: summit transmission mount
If after installation, you have a vibration that wasn't present before the swap, the mount is probably the culprit--not your tweaking. One issue that I've encountered is that after market mounts have a larger diameter mounting bolt than OE (I was forced to drill out my UMI cross member to accommodate the the ES/Prothane mount).

BTW, the cross member itself can be adjusted a bit. If you proceed on that route, however, be very careful as those bolts can snap off.

Re: summit transmission mount
Best fix for breaking that trans mount all the time, is find one of those two piece factory crossmembers. Has them two big rubber bushings holding it together. Then you can use a soild mount.... Altou I trimmed the soild mount a little so the trans was at the same level/angle. Never have a problem again.

Just an FYI for those who may have never heard of the secondary cross member and/or its applications:

Re: summit transmission mount
If you are still having trouble try jacking the transmission up a tad and get the bolt lined up and start threading while you push the trans over. I had the same issue and prying alone wouldn't get it over enough. Sar far mine has lasted two years though (energy susp).

When I did mine, maybe a little ghetto, but it didn't match up so I managed to wedge a big prybar between the transmission and the tunnel and just kinda forced it over. My $8 oem mount has stayed strong for almost two years now.

Re: summit transmission mount
just push the trans over, might be able to do it by hand, or a large prybar or even a piece of 2x4 will do the trick

Re: summit transmission mount
I was against drilling my crossmembers hole bigger, because I was worried if I ever went back to an OEM mount that it would have a little play. So today I went and got an OEM mount, and what do you know the mount still didn't line up! I Had to push with all my might to scoot it over that quarter inch and finally got it. Happy with it finally being over I drove it to the body shop for paint. On the way there my oem mount broke . Thanks for the advice on checking the front motor mounts, didn't think of that. Wont get that car back for a few days though.
So, I guess I still have to give summit a thumbs up for sending me a working mount in less than 20 hours of the purchase.
Any input on drilling in the two extra holes in the cross member so I can use the two outer bolts of the summit mount?

Welcome to the World of Aftermarket OEM Fit! lol Your going to find everything that says "OEM Fit, Doesn't. Yeah just tweak till you can get the bolts to line up. I had to do that with my 4th gen last week, total pain, But Def. worth it.
