Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

We need to take a stand.
These people do not know how to run a business.
If I had run a search on this board before I spent $450+ dollars on an exhaust kit, I wouldn't be sitting here trying to decide if I order a flatbed or go rent an auto carrier to get my car to an exhaust shop.
Any business that doesn't pick up the phone or return emails and sends product 30 days after payment, usually wrong or incomplete should not get a dime of our business.
I ordered a simple Flowmaster 3" cat-back kit. After a month, I was wondering where it was. Tried calling first for several days during business hours, got the answering machine telling me what their hours of operation were. Great, "I AM CALLING DURING YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION, THANKS!"
Then I shoot off a few emails as to the status of the order. No response.
Then I tell them I will have to dispute the charge and look elsewhere and call my CC company. I got a call from them 3 days later asking me if I still wanted the kit.
I should have declined!
I didn't, and received the box fairly quick after the phone call. I could tell right away that it had been opened prior, due to the pulled out staples. Sure as hell, the intermediate pipe was missing!
Note: Never get ahead of yourself, thinking you are saving time and gut or cut your old exhaust off until you have a complete new exhaust to install or you are screwed like me.
I will never do business with those monkeys again!
How does a company like this stay in business? Shocking.

Sorry,
I had to vent. (feel better now)

did you return the whole kit or are you waiting for the intermediate pipe?

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

If I "wait" for the intermediate pipe, I think I will never get this car back on the road. The rest of the kit is solid. I am just going to have it towed to a shop with a mandrel bender and have one made.
I can't tune my prom until the exhaust is complete, and I ordered the kit at the end of Feb. Got it 1 day ago.
I wouldn't even know how to return it, they never answer their phone.
I was just throwing another warning out there for everyone.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

summit and jegs both stock those exhaust kits i'm sure and shipping is free, only a $12 handling charge or something like that. Out of state has no taxes either. They ship fast and parts get to you. No idea why some people order normal stock items from small companies, unless they're made "in house" like suspension pieces from UMI, spohn, etc.

unless it is a special order hard to find specific item your always better going through a larger distribution company rather then the smaller guy. now if they were close to you i could have understood it but you've been a member here since 01. hate to say you should have known better but at least you learned on a smaller purchase. don't make the same mistake...

f-body motorsports started out on a good note and has been all down hill since...

Because they somehow think by using a 'site sponsor' they are getting a great deal.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

Not upholding fbody motorsports but they did sell out to camaro specialties , dealing with 67-81cars . They have completely moved their shop with all new employees. It has been pretty recent and you've probably called during the move. I was just in the new shop (visiting family) and the new owner/operator couldn't have been nicer. He spent lots of time finding the right ttop handle and plastic cover for me. Took it off a perfectly good ttop and sold for 20 bucks. An aluminum Iroc hood with the vents just clear coat pitted was 100 bucks. had a brand new headliner wanted 125. I had just wished I brought more cash with me.

I used to live in charlotte and the other guys were more concerned with the ls1/6 speed swap since it brought the big bucks in. Most of em were just worried about their buddies and their cars. I say give the new guy a chance to prove himself before cutting his throat because of the previous owner.

Agreed, why not just go summit or jegs? Thats where you should look first because of the fact that those two can out-do smaller competition in terms of price. Stick to them for now on, I've never had a problem with either.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I've called them 3 times asking for a qoute to install a shift kit on a tranny that is out of the car. All three times they said they would check and call me back, even after I told them I've called before and nobody ever called me back. So I just F it and I'll find another shop to install it.

You would think they would have installed enough shift kits to know how much it cost to do .

I don't think I'll ever call them again.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I ordered a rear headliner trim piece from them 5 weeks ago and have not heard or seen anything. E-mails are not being responded to and no one answers the phone. I'm going to try and call them tomorrow and see what's up. If I actually speak to someone, I will relay the constant stream of complaints I see on this board. Maybe the new owner will listen and correct the problems. If not, time to spend your money and mine elsewhere. Hit them in the pocketbook. It's the only thing people understand these days. Badman

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I'm having the same problem. I ordered coil springs from them on 3/13 and still have not recieved them. I ordered from them because they were able to beat Jegs or Summits price at the time. I called them today and the guy told me they were on back order, so I guess I'll give them a couple more weeks. I don't need them yet anyway.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I purchased my car on this forum and the previous owner had fbodymotorsports (thirdgenresource at the time) do a lot of work on it. Well their workmanship is pure crap because I can't believe how much ghetto crap I've found on this car. Loose bolts, incorrectly routed lines, wires, etc. They've always been known for their terrible business practices as well. If you live near them you'd be much better off taking a little bit of a drive and going to hawksthirdgen.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I got my flowmaster kit from Summit for about $230 delivered...

Kit hadn't been opened... it came with a 30 series (I was told 40), they offered to change it out, but I declined. 1 of the pipes wasn't "hydrastreched" and flowmaster shipped me a replacment @ no charge.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

There pretty much has been a boycott of them for a few years now.

I've bought from them, but it's been a couple of years ago. I did get my order, but it took A LOT of follow-up by me to get it. It finally took one of the girls on the phone to fill my order personally and get it out to me. She was very nice and helpful, but that's just too much to have to go through. Something was very wrong over there.

But because so many NOS parts are becoming harder and harder to get ahold of, I still check their website to see what they show available. So I've noticed it says they've moved their location and are under new management.

But it sounds like things haven't changed much.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

They also have an unsatisfactory record with the BBB:

http://www.charlotte.bbb.org/commonr...?compid=121141

Never hurts to check a company out on there, and be sure to file complaints here on issues you've failed to get resolved. I wish I had thought of this when fbody screwed me over and never filled my entire order, nor did they respond when I tried to contact them.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I should of done a quick search before i purchase 30 dollars from them a few weeks ago. I read that they went under new managment. So i figured i give them a shot (prior i had bad experience with them as well). I havent heard a word or email from them since! These guys run a unethical business. I should of listen to my business professor "new managment doesn't neccassarly mean a good thing" LOL! I highly feel that no one should do business with these people!!!!!!!

Will they not answer the phone when called? How do they even take new orders if not?

You should call and harass their _ss ever day until they ship your order.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

Ordered a headliner piece 5 weeks ago. They charged my credit card that week and still no product delivery. It's on order they say. That means they get your money and then go out and try to buy the part even though it shows on the website the part is in stock. This will be the one and only time I do buisness with them. If I ran my buisness this way, my customers base would be history. Badman

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

Has anyone tried to cancel an order from them? I noticed on my original e-mail, they state that they reserve the right to charge a 25% processing fee on cancellations. Just wonder if they actually charge that fee or not.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

So there's a fee to cancel an order "for processing"... which they never "processed" or you would have it by now?

It's amazing how many companies can't conduct business...

I've been waiting on TPIS for LTR's for a month +, after I was told they were in stock... they "have another shop do the work" and seems like they can't even talk to them, like it's some magic troll... though he's not very magic if he doesn't make the product I've paid for and am still waiting for...

Thanks the info, I was looking at some TPI parts from a few places, including F-body Motorsports. I think I'll scratch them from the list. I've heard great things about TPIparts.net, and they have everything I need. F-body's website sucks too. A lot of typing mistakes that make it tough to read. Also, I was going to get a pair of sail panels, but they install with velcro. Velcro sail panels are the kind of thing you make yourself, you don't pay $60 for them.

Well I tried to call F-Body again today and all I get is a recording. I have a feeling I, along with others who have ordered parts, are about to get screwed. When companies donot answer the phone during normal buisness hours, something is wrong. If anyone on this forum lives near this company, could you see if they are still doing buisness? They already charged my credit card for a part that they claim is in stock yet when I did talk to them 2 weeks ago, they said it was on order. Cavet emptor. Badman

Most Credit Card companies give you 60 days from the day of payment to put an item on dispute. Call them up and do so.

I've had the same problems from fbody motorsports. I returned a t top weatherstripping kit and could never get ahold of them. For like 2 months they just kept beating around the bush... saying we'll get it taken care of. They never answer phone it seems like, only when its convenient for them. After about 4 months i finally got my money back. JUST GARBAGE!

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

BADMAN, I meant F-body Motorsports. I had a similar experience with them. "Its a back order", "we're still waiting for the part". Good luck either way...

Sounds to me like there are grounds here for a class-action. I don't know how many parties need to be involved to qualify, but I would say that with business practices like these, you may be able to identify enough people with a common grudge against F-body Motorsports. The BBB report helps as well.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I ordered a wheel center back in January. They took my money quick enough, but I still haven't got my part. I've sent several e-mails which were never answered. I also called several times. As I'm in Korea this isn't cheep. They said they were having trouble getting the part from there supplier. They promised to e-mail me when they had more information. Needless to say, I haven't heard a word. If they can't get the part I wish they would just tell me.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I think alot of it is they will sell you something over the phone/net claiming to order it or claim to have it, but in reallity they either 1. don't have it to begin with and can't find it to order either. OR 2. Have some parts cars coming in they are sure the pieces are on and they end up not being on there Possibly 3. They probably order from jeg's , summit, year one, eckler's, just as the rest of us but resale at a higher rate. Some of the stuff from them seems a little pricey. Year One is at the top of the ladder and they seem to be a tad bit above them.

I've never ordered anything and I never will from them. The BBB should be notified and I'm sure there is some kind of legal action beyond boycotting that could be made. Again credit card companies will investigate your complaints. That's why you get a good card.

Of course the board could all meet up in charlotte nc and have one big azz f body convoy pulling in there shop and I bet they'd be handing over some parts and cash then. Not promoting violence but there is strength in numbers.

if i ever have a problem, ill be sure to let it be known on here to see if others have the same experience, and then tell people not to order from them.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I just canceled my order with them I placed back in February. As I explained to them it has been months and it's quite obvious they can not fulfill the order. This is a sad situation. They used to be a decent place to find parts that were not available in ordinary shops like jegs or summit. Now where do we go to find camro specific parts? In the past thier customer service was never great but now it's imposible.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

I agree!!!!!! Biggest headache I have ever had. I ordered a driverside black seatbelt for my HARDTOP 89. It took them 4 months to send me ofcourse, the wrong part.... they sent me the part that attaches to the center console. Which was 30$ less than the part I paid for and a totally different part! Then another 2 months I get a convertible black seatbelt!!! Send it back, wait another 2 months and finally I just said forget it I can't even deal with this. Worst experience I have ever had with anyone. Took them another month to refund my money. I probably have 50+ emails back and forth with these stupid people. Half of them asking for my address and name multiple times and the part number I ordered. They should not have an online business. I really think they just have it, so they can rip people off. Some people probably just forget they ordered stuff from them. Please!!!! do not buy from them. So a year later and my seatbelt still isn't fixed.

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

From what I hear, Roy did a good job running the business previously. The current owner, TR, is a great guy but I think he just happened to get caught in this business at the wrong time and he's having trouble getting it out of the knot it got stuck in. Part of it I can honostly say has to do with the employees currently working there. I walked in one afternoon to order my parking lights and one of the employees handled it. I had a few misc. question on a motor build and the guy at the front desk was like "Uhhhhh...." (Obviously knew nothing about motors) and talked about 10 words a minute. Some chick was on a computer checking her myspace when she could of simply been putting peoples orders in that they deserve. Jay was the only one walking around doing something. (And yes I too had trouble getting my lights for a long time but I called Jay and he had them special ordered cuz this was right at the time they REALLY were moving and not just saying that). I think if TR would realize his current employees are worthless he could get that company back up and going. Just my

Re: Boycott F-Body Motorsports!

These guys used to be called "Thirdgenresource" and used to be a sponsor of this site.. a few years back. After a bunch of BS and basically doing the same thing they are doing with you guys, their sponsorship was pulled... this was back in 02 or 03.. then.. Roy decided to change names and incorporate 4thgens into the works and to get away from the bad name Thirdgenresource had.. changed it to Fbodymotorsports..

they were also a sponsor on LS1tech as Fbodymotorsports until people realized this company was a joke.. they have been removed from there.. Roy is a nice guy.. but his employee's suck.. he blamed it mostly on his "now" exwife who used to handle all the processing of orders..

they still suck.. and i would never do business with them...
