MSD (Autotronic Controls) : Outstanding service! :)

Just thought that I would post up my experience with Autotronic controls, aka MSD ignition.

I had my 6a box fail on me seemingly out of no where back over the summer, the box was about 1.5 years old at the time. Remembering that there was a 1 year warranty on it, I just bypassed it and pulled it out of the car after the tow home. (I had no tools with me at the time and no way of figuring out what the problem was.) There it sits in my closet for a few months. Welp, I dug it out about a few weeks ago, called MSD and sent it in for repairs. I was expecting that it would be more to repair the unit than it was worth. Much to my surprise, I get in to my office today and it is sitting on my desk; repaired free of charge! :hail: Inside I also find a new manual/ installation instructions along with emblems and a mini-catalog. I am thrilled to see great service is still out there!

In retrospect, I think placement of the unit may have contributed to it's failure. On the work sheet noted is replacement of several components due to corosion. I had my box placed up front, I moved the charcoal canister aside about 2" and it slid in right next to it. It was a great looking spot for it, but I am sure it got plenty of water up there, too. Looking at the unit again, these don't apear to be totally waterproof, and I think that is where I went wrong with it.

Thanks Autotronic/MSD! :hail:

well ive been trying to like MSD lately but its been kind of hard. I sent my 6AL that had failed in for repairs. I got it back promptly and the cost was right, but the damn thing still doesnt work! I went back to school and kind of forgot about it for a while, im going to send it back again. I hope they wont charge me again or ill be a little salty.

I had a similar experience with msd... my 6a box went out a while back. The warrenty is well over with. I didnt want to buy a new box so i thought I'd just try my luck and see what happens if i just mail it in. Much to my surprise they repaired it and mailed it to my free of charge! I was definately impressed with their service.

I have had great luck with them too!

I have a digital rpm window switch. I couldn't get it to work. I sent it back to them and the promptly returned it, saying it was working fine. Found out later it was the tach filter. It works great now.
Also, I have a MSD digital 6 ignition. I installed it and it worked great. I was washing my car before the races and it got soaked with water. I sent it to MSD and they returned it promptly(less than a month, I live in Canada) and charged me $50 to fix it. Very reasonable.

I had a good experience with them as well. I emailed a technical question and got a reply reasonable quickly. Then I ordered some items and they shipped everything out right away. One of the items I purchased wasn't right for my car (my goof) and they accepted a return no problem. I'm very happy with them.
