Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

Hello Everyone,

I usually never complain about a product or car part but I was hosed when I purchased a Delphi Fuel pump from Rock Auto. I've been buying parts from them a bunch of times. This time I purchased a Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto and it was dead on arrival. I replaced the pump and the PSI reading only went up to 38psi and it failed to register a reading after a few days. I ended up buying a Walbro 255lph fuel pump and it works like a charm. Unfortunately I can't get a refund back because it past my 30 day purchase. But I am able to get a warranty replacement pump. I still need to eat the cost.

I work for a GM dealer and we've had some pretty terrible luck with them lately as well.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

I bought a Delphi FE 0110 fuel pump from Rock Auto 10 months and 2000 miles ago and installed it the right way in my 91 TA Vert. Hasn't missed a beat. Works perfect. Excellent pressure.
**** happens. Don't get your panties in a wad. Parts fail, and these days, sometimes multiple times. Not Rock Auto's fault, and not their fault you let it go past the warranty period. Not your place to discourage others for what appears to be a one-off interaction with Rock Auto.
And you werent really "hosed." The damn thing is $50, not $5,000.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

Yes it was a Delphi FE0110 Fuel pump. I bought it in the winter time last year and had to wait until its warmer to get it installed. I used to order parts all the time for my camaro and never received something that was Dead on Arrival and it seems nowdays that you have to really watch what you order at which website as well. This pump came from China with weird packaging. Did not expected that. It is so convoluted these days of where to order parts now. You have to really do your research to order parts online. I learned my lesson for sure.

In my opinion, 30 Days is a lousy warranty! One hardly has time to install it. Should be one year. I got in the Auto repair business in 1973. Defective parts were uncommon, back then. I used to sell and install new parts back then, with confidence. NO MORE! Now the aftermarket and some OE parts are total headaches!

Rock is great, until there is a problem. I ordered a EPC Solenoid for my F150. It arrived with trans fluid dripping out, as if it was installed and returned, or maybe someone old part! I started a Return on their website. Rock said send it back, stating "if appears to have been installed no credit will be issued". Great, I'm sending it back advising the reason is because, based on my 25+ years of experience and training, I believe is WAS installed. Rock replies if it looks installed, no credit! BS

A few months ago, I ordered a differential bearing kit, from Rock, It had a $ 20.00 rebate. After a month with no rebait, I contact them and am told it take 8-10 weeks to get the rebate. Really? 20.00 ? I wonder how many buyers will forget about said rebate, in 10 weeks. Convenient if it's never issued.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

I bought a pump for my formula from summit. Failed in 10k miles but Summit replaced it. Better customer service than rockauto IMO

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

Last three pumps I've replaced have been Bosch. No problems at all and they are nice and quiet. Good price. Delphi stuff seems to be generic white box China stuff repacked in the blue box, with a blue box price sometimes.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

I agree the Delphi quality is suspect. I put one in and had perhaps 2000 miles on the car when it failed on the 2023 Hot Rod Power Tour. I replaced it with a Walbro 255lph.

Is the Bosch still available? I've looked around and can't seem to find it anywhere.

I compare Delphi brand stuff to Dorman, they seem to be about the same quality.........or lack thereof.

SAD!

I remember when Dorman was GOOD and Delphi was OE GM. Delphi is still GM, but when they are selling parts, no longer installed on the assembly line, I believe GM is not monitoring production quality, as when the part might go in a new car.

It's the way of big business. Report millions in profit, line the ceo's pockets, and screw the end user........they don't matter anyway.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

I have the Delphi FE0110 pump in my Monte Carlo SS with 350 TPI motor. Installed it a couple months ago to replace a Bosch pump that I thought had failed. The Delphi pump appears to be working fine. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and be prepared to buy a Walbro 255lph pump. Thanks for the information.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

Might as well lump ACDelco in there with Delphi too. 2 failed window motors and an upper ball joint on my 4th gen, all premium line ACD parts, all failed upon installation or within a week thereof. I don’t buy Delco anymore and it sounds like Delphi is out too. How does a $100 ball joint fail so quickly? It never even reached the 38ft/lbs torque spec before it stripped the nut ruining the ball joint. Took a look at the other bj, only 3 threads in the nut before the grooves for the cotter pin intruded into them.

Re: Never Order Delphi Fuel Pump from Rock Auto

Keith, where did you buy your Walbro 255lph fuel pump? I want to get one in case my fairly new Delphi pump dies.

Thanks,
Fred
