Re: CHEAP ebay Hydraulic Roller Lifters

Thanks for the heads up.

Don't buy Skip White's "Guaranteed MADE IN USA" parts that come in plain white boxes either. Offshore crap. Ask me how I know.
Only 20 minutes of cam break-in run time.

If you have a .241 push rod seat, and you preload the lifter 1/2 turn your forcing the lifters push rod seat down about .060, that leaves a .040 tall and about .500 diameter internal lifter volume of oil capacity, to be forced up the push rod during each rotation cycle.
Install the .299 lifter seat in a similar lifter body and you've reduced the internal oil capacity to nearly zero volume under the push rod seat, from about .060 to .010 so you get a huge reduction in oil volume that can be potentially forced up the push rod as the cam lobe rotates under the lifter's base.

What you end up with is NO OIL TO THE ROCKERS!

Good to know, think it's becoming more common to pass overseas stuff off as USA made

Not only that, but as long as there is a headquarters in the USA, the company can claim MADE IN USA even though the parts are actually made offshore. Parts don't even have to be assembled in USA anymore.
Unscrupulous sellers will even purchase brand name USA made parts and put the cheap crap back in the box and return the item. Then the next person to get that box gets screwed.

That's lame didn't know it's gotten that bad. I knew BIG company's lobby politicians to change laws & regulations that help them import and hurt manufacturing here. It makes them lots of money and the congressmen.

Yup I bought set of comp Hi-tech moly pushrods from Amazon and someone swapped them out for stock ones, returned for full refund NP. You really gotta know your stuff to order from ebay or Amazon and be willing to haggle.

Seems like there is no quality control to anything these days.

The harbor freight/china caliper was a funny touch to the video, lol

Wow, I did not know things have gotten that bad. I like Amazon, but I would never buy speed parts from them.

It works, I've checked it. Still, I thought the same thing when I saw a pro porter use one in his video LOL

I actually need to buy another, I would like to have all name brand USA everything but I just can't afford it, maybe if my channel blows up someday.

I've gotten some good deals on some stuff, for example $40 for tool-steel comp retainers and I know they are legit cause I have a few sets of that size in TS n one of moly already. I also got a $30 roller cam and several other things that were cheaper but also had to send back some junk, still got 100% refund.

edit: I would say Amazon is easier to deal with a problem than ebay but both have saved me a lot of money and I've gotten most my headaches this year from big part places(they are mostly good to deal with as well).

Re: CHEAP ebay Hydraulic Roller Lifters

I don't think you will have any problems with ELGIN cam.
I have used ELGIN parts in the past - no problems.
I would trust ELGIN before any no-name crap.

You mean some SCUM actually had a booth at SEMA with knockoff parts?

Re: CHEAP ebay Hydraulic Roller Lifters

Supposedly, there are 2 different Skip White shops next door to each other. Or down the street, or whatever. One says that they are getting blamed for the other's crappy work. But, until somebody that lives in TN goes there, nobody should try and believe what is being said on their website. I tried emailing them over 6 months ago, several times. Never got a response.

Re: CHEAP ebay Hydraulic Roller Lifters

Let me guess - and each will point the finger at the other, while you keep waiting for a resolution.
The problem with that is the time expires for your complaint with whoever might be able to help you.
These companies know this and is a common tactic. Avoid these places at all costs.

I never bought anything from either one, I was pointing out what one has said about the other and a lack of response. I contacted them long before I even asked about them on TGO.

Yes, I know. I just wanted to point out one of the dirty tactics that some places use.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you were referring to me actually buying something from Skip White. Sorry.
