Anybody use screamingchicken LED headlight conversion kit?
I'm looking to upgrade my stock headlights. There are many options from HID to LED and projectors. They seen to vary greatly in quality and price. The conversion kit from screamingchicken.com seems to be of good quality with minimal modifications to existing wiring harness. Has anybody used their products?

Re: Anybody use screamingchicken LED headlight conversion kit?
Thank you the response. Leaning towards using my stock headlights for now as I am wrapping up my restoration. This way I will have more time to figure out what I want to do. Any recommendations for LED?

JW Speaker makes LED replacements, but they aren't cheap. BLS makes HID replacements, I think

So I've seen a lot of semis cruising around with 4x6 LED headlights and they seem to work pretty good, but I'm not too sold on the looks of them.

Sucks that most headlight conversion kits for our cars will not fit the '91-92 Firebirds because of the smaller housings. If there is a quality kit out there, please let me know.

While my Camaro is a 2nd gen, this may give you guys some ideas on how to do something similar on your 3rd gens.
http://ultm8z.com/HID%20Projector%20...n%20Camaro.pdf
I've since swapped out the xenon bulbs for LED's. My wife has had a Infinity QX60 and now a Lexus RX350 and the setup on my Camaro easily blows both of those cars away in terms of illumination, especially with the high-beams. But with the proper cutoff line and light pattern I don't blind people coming the other direction.
But in terms of aftermarket stuff available these days, it's still really difficult to beat the OEMs.

I only sell DOT approved housings. I can get DOT approved projector housings as well. I use projectors on some vehicles, like my 2004 Chevy CC dually. I have 4x6 projector housings as well. I used them, for a time, on my '86 IROC-Z, but feel like the diamond clear housings I carry, focus the light better. I have tried multiple housings and multiple LED units, and those are my findings. Facts? No, more like a learned opinion based on multiple experiences, on both my and my customers vehicles. If projectors work for you, then I recommend you go with projectors.

Projectors focus the light output and give a cutoff line so you're not shining excess light into the faces of the oncoming traffic. If you're putting LEDs into halogen housings because you think it works better, you're doing it wrong and failing to consider the other drivers on the road. I imagine you think that light output is better this way since you get more light above the driver, so you THINK it's superior. You might as well just put a bunch of LED bars on your vehicle, because it's the same result
As I said projectors are the CORRECT way to do it.

Yeah at the time I was doing a ton of research and everyone was saying that the 2006-2008 Acura TL's were one of the best projectors out there. And even now 10 years after my swap, and just with D2S LED bulbs (which I did last year), they're tough to beat.

Re: Anybody use screamingchicken LED headlight conversion kit?
It's not that projectors are "for me", its the only LEGAL way to put an HID or LED into a car unless it is a replacement LED replacement housing designed without the use of a projector. I have seen the TrickLite LED round 7" headlights for older cars and the light output SUCKS.

Just because you can do something doesn't make it right, but it might make you a douche.

Really, name calling? Actually I'm a dick and I don't give a flying **** what you think. Back up the "Federal Law", I want to see it. Pull 10 website links to back it up. Obviously, if the cops don't care about the "Federal Law" why should you? I'd love to be behind you with my bright *** LEDs on high in all your mirrors, since you want to resort to name calling.

That explains the name calling, thanks for pointing it out. Plus, you forgot to put a comma behind the word: "Actually"
Just like I did in my first reply to you. But, I'm smart enough to figure out how grammar works. You still have ways to go before you can figure that out yourself, Libertarian.

Silly Libertarian, you think I'm mad? Not even close. I'm just replying to antagonize you. Libertarians are easy to antagonize. But hey, go get some weed and chill, my poor little Libertarian, everything will be okay in the morning.

Check these guys out. I used their stuff when I converted my 2nd gen over to HID projectors (and then later swapped out to D2S bulbs).

Re: Anybody use screamingchicken LED headlight conversion kit?
LED projectors, or at least projector style, headlights in a 4x6 are becoming more common and some styles are much better than others. The style I got works well IMO. Very powerful with the ability to throw light far. Now my wife and I both have newer cars with factory led and hid projectors and the Camaro lights aren't quite as good for cutoff or giving a wide horizon of light but they are much better that the oem lights or the clear halogen lights.

I'm running LED's on my Formula, and on my Corvette as well. They work quite well.
In regards to legality, after installing them and ensuring the aim was compliant, I said "Sergeant, would you give yourself a ticket?" and I responded "Nope, these look good".

Is kind of poor manners is what I expect on the Corvette forum. I hope it doesn't bleed over to here.
