Vintage Wheel Works V48

For some time I had been looking for wheels for my 85 T/A that were lighter, looked conceivably period-correct and was unique. I like how minilite wheels look but there weren't really any options for true minilites or replicas within my price range of less than $800. I had decided on staying with 16x8 instead of 17x9 due to PA roads not getting any better and I figured that the more sidewall, the better. I don't do any performance driving with my car so the flex and poor tire choices are not a huge downside.
I purchased these single-piece cast wheels from Coker Tire back in mid December for a price of $133.20 per wheel, with free Christmas shipping. A couple things that weren't mentioned on the store page are that center caps are not included and that the centerbore is 72.65mm.
Initial impressions were that they were quite light for their price, weighing ~10lbs less per wheel than the OE 16x8 convex 20-slot wheels. One of the wheels had some pitting and another had some minor discoloration, both in spots which aren't visible with a tire mounted. They required more weights to balance than the OE wheels, though this might just mean I got unlucky with the tire placement and not a fault of the wheels. I'm not sure how indicative these faults are of the wheel's quality, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Bonus Update 1: Just recently noticed that these wheels have a lip that extends behind the spokes about 3/8in, which means you may need a spacer to run bigger brakes.
Bonus Update 2: I cancelled my order for the matching caps as they were on backorder for months. I found the exact caps that they sell, sans the VWW logo, on the Bay of E's. They're made of thick plastic and fit very snugly. The model number is LK11608B.

1-year conclusion: If you're in the market for 16x8 minilikes that bolt right on, this is the only option I know of other than actual minilites. If you want larger or smaller ones, check out TARE Superlites or Team-III LT-IIIs.

Those look great, not too big but a nice upgrade from stock.

Always nice to see another 85 bright blue poly in nice shape too.

I've always liked the mini-lite look. They look great on your T/A.

Thanks, your T/A is looking great as well, those body colored wheels are super nice. I had thought about rally II's as well but they just don't look right bigger than 15 in, IMO.
