Foam Fit Tool organizer

Makes a bunch of foam sets for craftsman tools. Really cleans up the box instead of having a bunch of tools lying around.

It can be shadowed in different colors when the tool is out. Mines blue.

this is what we use at my job as well. They can be precut for toolsets but being the gov they didn't want to spend the extra $ on that and said tall can cut your own. We just used a dremel

Seems like they leave a lot of unused space.

Yeah. That's why I recomend getting some exercise foam bout ½in thick or so and a then yoga mat for another color and make it yourself. That's what we do but we use gravply for the second color. If we decide to add or change a drawer

I used to be worried about space when I had a 24 top and bottom. With a 56 top and bottom not so much. Bigger box is the best thing I ever bought for the garage.

Bah Humbug , a fully organized tool cabinet is the sign of a sick mind . mine never stays neat . only when the task is done and I put tools back in does it get close to organized . does not stay that way long . oh well , wrenching longer than many here have been alive I have not always had the luxury of good tool cabinets . looks really nice , I could never keep mine like that . oh well just keeping it real . Cheers ...

Works great for tool inventory. And saves time when you really need that 12mm.but then again I mainly wrench on planes.

When you have a small box , like I did before. My storage was piles of tools on the garage floor. Always looking for sockets, tools. I wasted more time searching for a 10mm socket than actually working on the car. Heres the funny part. I just moved and had to clean out my old garage. Guess what I found In all the nook and crannys and ridiculous spots around the garage? All the tools I wasted time looking for and never found until I moved. I vowed never again and bought a new box and plan to be neat about it. That little bit of time being neat and organized makes your sat in the garage smooth and productive. I was never neat and organized, and you pay a price for that.

Re: Foam Fit Tool organizer

It always amazes me how the 10mm is pretty much the wrench that gets the most use out of all of mine, yet I spend stupid amounts of time looking for it, even when I put it somewhere 'obvious' in the drawer, etc.

Lol, that made me laugh. When I finally moved and started going through all my tools, all said and done I had 5 10mm, when at one time I had none. Id "misplace" it, go buy another, rinse , repeat. I had that issue with the 1/2 inch and 12mm too. So funny.

^^THIS! I even have one on each of my standard socket trees, mostly because we have several GM vehicles. You can take a RX7 almost completely apart with a 10mm and 12mm socket. I dunno why GM has to use standard AND metric, oh, and TWO freaking different metric sizes on each end of a bolt!!

Re: Foam Fit Tool organizer

There's also that 18mm for the rear suspension that is a hit or miss when trying to find one in a set. So you end up having to buy those separately.

This looks bad but I bet that guy knows where every single tool is. Well... at least the coping saw.

The idea behind that is so you can work on car with 1 set of tools.

I guess I should re-word that... So the line workers only needed 1 full set of tools to put the cars together

If bolt head and nut was the same size, you would need two of every size metric and SAE tools.. With different head and nut sizes you only need one set of each to do the job

Re: Foam Fit Tool organizer

Good explanation.
I figured they used "whatever" nut and bolt combo they could find laying around in Van Nuy's. Don't know about Norwood.......
