AIRCRAFT REMOVER ............

this morning I bought a spray can of rust-oleum aircraft remover paint stripper . the stuff works , no complaint about that . reading back of can between coats down where it says causes California cancer . it says "do not use on aircraft" . seemed funny to me the label says "aircraft remover" and on the back do not use on aircraft . WWTTTFFFF ?????????????? oh yes , I'm a retired acft. mechanic with over 40 yrs. on acft. & hyd. components .

Re: AIRCRAFT REMOVER ............

I belive this is because back when the stuff was used in bulk the majority of aircraft were made with aluminum skin. Now most modern aircraft incorporate fiberglass and carbon fiber skins which will dissolve and turn into sludge when a strong solvent such as aircraft remover is used on it.

Is there a more poorly named product? I would like to know how it would remove my aircraft.

As you (should) know everything has to be "approved" in the aircraft industry. I used to work as a mechanic in the helicopter industry and everything had a PO and batch number attached to it, even a tube of lithium grease! This was in Canada mind you.
