AFR-nope not that expensive

We all think that AFR are expensive.Myself included. The reason why is the undoubtedly performance you get and the top end quality you get.But if you do very little research, you find they are not only affordable, but a pretty sweet set-up.
They offer what they call a "porter's" bare castings. If that isn't a leading label for bare castings and what you can do with them,I don't know what is.Only $899 for the set.At about $450 a head, that is a outstanding deal for "AFR's".

They also offer a top end kit which are in the price range of $1.800 bucks. If your ever have had to buy all the stuff included in these top end kits which includes the top end intake from some other head company like the offshore stuff, the AFR offerings don't really cost that much more. And when your done out fitting the off shore stuff, you still don't own a AFR brand name.

My point is this.I do think offshore entry pricing is misleading with issues we see all the time and over a time period.I hate the idea of guys finding that out the hard way and then regret the decision they make.

Guys do testimonials about a brand name offshore company and what they have done with them and not have any problems.Thing is given the very well known fact QC issues, one guy might get a haft decent set and the next guy not so much. It's a crap shoot.

OK rant over

Wait maybe only acouple of months longer when your ready to pull the trigger on a set of heads and save just alittle more to be the proud owner of a set of AFR's.

Perhaps a table of comparable heads with actual pricing may better suit the post. By comparable i mean similar sized heads, same material, similar spring specs for given cam type and similar machined trim/quality as in as cast vs cnc ported etc. let that be known upfront and then compare advantages of each head type vs pricing to best present the data for consumers to purchase as required

Car craft did that a few years back, just before AFR came out with the new eliminator series. As I recall AFR did the best comparatively but was the most expensive. The down side is that they were not that much better than the trick flow at the time so it made you think twice about paying extra for AFR. Streetable sbc 350 was used.

Re: AFR-nope not that expensive

I'll have to take a look. Dart increased prices 15% this year so their budget heads are now only few hundred off AFR. Darts top line may be more money now. Brodix has always been comparable but their full cnc option has been expensive. Trickflow i have never been real impressed unless you had them hand ported but were alittle cheaper.

Then again i got my afr's for 1440 shipped. Then i put in 100$ upgrade springs and 7/16 arp studs... I think summit has them for that without shipping so prices have gone up on everything
