And that is the concern. You claim to take a lot of pride in your car but yet you look for cheap, junk replacemrnt parts?

Heck!, go to the Bone Yard and 'Suck-Up' the Trash if there is anything there which is unlikely.

Garbage In - Garbage Out. Simple as that.
You okay, buddy? You seem kind of mad.

Re: OER Dash Pad

Hey guys, It really isnt that big of a deal. Everyone has a different budget. Your both wrong and right in different ways.
Who honestly gives a rats *** how much the guy spent on a replacement. I couldnt afford a $450 OEM pad from Ekler or Classic Industries either, but after a ton of time and patience, found a Original removed and stored with care. I can see buying NOS or true OER if you got the pocket book, but you take projects like mine where after close to $1500 just in used body parts, another $1600 in interior, $1600 in wheels and tires, $1600 trans, $1000 worth of paint materials, and not to mention hundreds of hours just to get a sweet daily driver............leave the guy alone if he can only afford or decided to save a little on a replacement dash.
As for the comment of cutting access whole to get to the fuel sending unit........those guys should have their asses kicked for screwing up the car. If I found a car, even one that had $15k of a restore, that had a whole cut in any portion not factory.......I wouldnt buy it just for that reason.
Half-*** and quickie shade tree repairs cause other problems.

Re: OER Dash Pad

It looks like a well made product to me, I'd buy one based on these pictures. Granted I also enjoy my car for what it is rather then trailer it around all the time. My dashpad is fine yet, but if I needed one and could not locate a real nice shape used one I'd buy one of those. Yeah it might not be a 1000% bang on match to those with a magnifying glass, but it sure looks a lot better then a cracked dash, and I could deal with the speaker holes not being "OEM" size if that is the difference between a $1000 NOS pad and a reproduction.

Re: OER Dash Pad

If we are going to continue to enjoy these cars in the future we had better hope that companies will step foreward and build quality aftermarket replacement parts. It may take a while, but at some point plastic parts and such that are prone to sun damage will become scarce.

I hope that someone will make reproduction center console armrests/pads/center storage compartment doors for early thirdgen birds. The one in my 82 is starting to look old, although it has not cracked anywhere. The car is an original survivor car with 24,300 miles on it, and has spent most of its time in an air conditioned garage with no windows. It has seen very little sunshine in its 30 years, however some parts will deterorate just from age.
